CHAPTER 16
PARKER AND GRUNER huddle around the computer screen to watch the camera feed from the gate. A black Toyota Camry pulls up and parks. A motorcycle with a man wearing a backpack drives up on the far side of the first vehicle. Without removing his helmet, the rider dismounts and gets into the Camry. After a few minutes, he gets back on the bike and speeds away. The camera fails to pick up enough features to identify either person.
“Can you check passenger lists on public carriers?”
“I’ll try.”
“Check for non-stops to Sacramento.”
“There’s one on United.”
“Okay, see if you can get a passenger manifest for September eighth.”
“I’ll need high-level clearance to secure it, sir.”
