CHAPTER 13
WHILE BURNEY FEDEX’S the contents of the safe, the admiral gets ready to meet with the general. He puts his notebook into the briefcase and adds the two cryptic messages he found in the Building 36 evidence box. His driver arrives, and Parker leaves, locking the door behind him.
“Good morning, sir. To the general’s office?”
“Yes, thank you.” They travel in silence. The admiral thinks of Burney and Davis and what they might have found, what they might do now. When the driver stops, the admiral tells him, “It will be a long day. I’ll call when I need you.”
As soon as the admiral walks into the waiting room, a staff member ushers him into Taylor’s office.
“Hey, Parker. Any more dreams?”
“Not that I remember, but a cup of coffee might spark some recall.”
