6 - Her Mate

Coralanna POV     I woke up in the middle of a horrible nightmare screaming, but quickly noticed there were arms wrapped around me as a soothing voice softly cooed, "It's okay Coralanna.  You are safe here.  Remember where you are sweetheart."     I slowly open my eyes and looked up into the brightest blue eyes.  Immediately I realized it was Andrea and wrapped my arms around her as I hugged her back.  My whole body shook as I sobbed and buried my face against her shoulder.  It felt so nice to be surrounded by her warm and loving embrace.       When I finally stopped crying and let go of her, she picked up a pair of flip flops and handed them to me as she said, "I am taking you to my favorite spot about five minutes from here.  You will feel a lot better by the time we return.  That I can promise you."  She flashed me a kind smile as she winked, then stood up and waited for me.       I quickly put the flip flops on and stood up beside her.  She grabbed my hand and led me down a hall to a back door.  As soon as she opened the door, my eyes took in the most beautiful meadow full of lilacs and another flower that I would have to ask what it is because I have no clue.  You could smell the fragrance of the lilacs everywhere.  It was really quite fitting since Andrea's scent was lilacs mixed with something else.  I couldn't help but wonder if it was just a coincidence or if there was more to it.       As she led me to an enormous tree with strings of leaves hanging down all around it, I could feel a very powerful aura radiating from the tree.  I am sure I looked hilarious with my eyes wide and my mouth hanging open in awe at the feeling I was getting as we walked in between the layers of leaves hanging down.  Once she walked us into the complete coverage of the tree's leaves, I became completely overwhelmed by the strength and energy as I was gaining as I stood there.  I looked over at Andrea and asked, "What is happening to me?"     She giggled before she cheerfully explained, "You see Coralanna, this tree was enchanted by the Moon Goddess to replenish the strength and energy of the hybrids who visit it.  What you are feeling is your witch side getting what she needs and has probably needed for a long time now.  I couldn't help but notice that you weren't healing on your own like you should.  Do you know why that is?"     Trying to hold back the tears that were forming at the thought of my wolf, I responded, "My wolf abandoned me years ago.  She went into hiding and put up a wall because she couldn't handle the trauma of everything.  I love my wolf and I am hurt that she abandoned me when I needed her the most, but understand why she did it.  If I could have done the same thing, I probably would have."     "I am so sorry that they hurt you like they did.  If you ever need a friend to talk to or a shoulder to cry on, do not ever hesitate to find me," she said as she gave me a gentle hug, which I gladly returned.     We chatted about the tree for a while longer.  She told me it's called a weeping willow tree because of the way the leaves hang down.  She also told me about how James planted lilacs and hyacinth in the meadow after she accidentally casted a mate spell on him when she was just a young pup.       When we returned, her mate was in the kitchen cooking breakfast and Goddess, it smelled so f*****g good.  My stomach immediately started growling in anticipation of the food.  Andrea laughed as she led me into the kitchen with her.  As soon as we walked in, I noticed not one but four of the most adorable pups I had ever laid eyes on.  I immediately squealed as I ran to the one that had helped heal me and gave her a quick hug and a peck on the cheek before I said, "Thank you for helping me little one."     A smile lit up her face as she replied, "You're welcome.  I am glad to see you are feeling better this morning."     I took a good look at each of the other pups, smiling widely as I admired their cuteness.  They were all just so damn adorable.  Andrea giggled behind me, then said, "Please, have a seat.  Breakfast will be ready soon."     I sat down beside Bethany and watched Andrea walk over to her mate and lovingly look up into his eyes.  He returned the loving gaze as he wrapped one arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him, then he brought his lips down onto hers as he gave her a gentle kiss.  When they pulled apart, they lovingly gazed into each other's eyes for a moment longer before he returned to cooking.       I hadn't realized there were tears falling from my eyes, until Andrea walked up to me and brushed the tears off of my cheeks as she asked, "What's wrong sweetie?"     "Oh it's nothing," I said sadly.     "Honey, it's not nothing, if it's bringing tears to those pretty brown eyes of yours," she responded thoughtfully.     I sighed after a second, then replied, "I just wish I could have found my mate before those cruel beasts took my innocence away from me.  Now I fear that if I do ever meet my mate, he will most likely reject me because I have been used and abused."     Instantly tears sprang into Andrea's eyes as she shook her head and said, "Do not live with that fear, sweetie.  If you and your mate are truly meant to be together, then he will love you no matter what.  You have to hold onto that belief until you find him."     I sniffled then replied, "I really do hope that you are right about that.  I don't know if I could handle my mate rejecting me over something that was out of my control.  The act alone was traumatizing enough as it is."     Andrea gave me a quick hug as she said, "Let's not worry about that right now.  Focus on the good things that have come into your life.  You got away from the bad stuff and can look forward to a much happier life now."     I smiled as she pulled back from the hug, then said, "Thank you, Andrea.  I don't know how I will be able to repay you for your generosity, but I promise I will find a way."     She sat down, then looked me straight in the eye as she smiled and said, "No need.  This is what we do.  We help the hybrids that come to our pack needing us."     A few minutes later, James brought the cooked food to the table.  We enjoyed delicious bacon, scrambled eggs, and pancakes for breakfast.  By the time I finished eating, I felt like my stomach might explode.  I wasn't used to eating big portions but it tasted so good, it was definitely worth it.       When I left the table, I made my way back to the couch and stretched out across it.  The pillow and blanket were still there and it didn't take but a few minutes for me to drift back off to sleep.       I don't know how long I had been sleeping, but I was suddenly awakened by the sound of my wolf's voice in my head.  She kept saying, 'Coralanna wake up.  Please Coralanna you need to wake up.  Our mate is here.'     As soon as my brain registered the word mate, I took a sniff of the air as I kept my eyes closed.  Instantly my nose was filled with the most intoxicating scent of pumpkin mixed with pine trees.  My eyes popped open to be met with most stunning dark blue eyes staring at me in awe.  I scanned his face taking in the sight of his perfectly chiseled chin and prominent cheek bones.  He had the thickest layer of eyelashes protecting his eyes and the most kissable pouty lips.  His jet black hair fell over his forehead as he turned his face to look over at Andrea.     When he looked back at me, he gave me the sweetest smile as he said, "Hello, my beautiful mate.  I have been looking for you for very a long time."     I was surprised when the sound of his masculine voice didn't scare me, but instead seemed to calm my nerves.  I smiled in return as I said, "I have been waiting for you to come and save me for a long time."  He went to move the stray hair out of my face, but I flinched out of instinct and he immediately pulled his hand back and frowned as worry flashed through his blue eyes.     I quickly sat up and brought both of my hands up to the sides of his face and gently held his cheeks as sparks erupted at the contact.  I looked into his eyes and said, "Please understand, there are some men that have hurt me in the most unthinkable ways and I don't mean to flinch when you try to touch me, but it is habit and it will take me time to break it.  Please try to be patient with me."     He eyes started to glow a little as I felt his strong aura start pulsing.  He closed his eyes and leaned forward to rest his head against mine.  He took a few deep inhales of my scent and soon after his aura stopped pulsing.  I grabbed ahold of his hands making the sparks flow between us again.  Slowly his eyelids fluttered open to gaze into mine as I brought his hands up to my face and placed his palms on my still bruised cheeks.     I watched as his eyes lit up with joy at what I had just done.  The cutest smile spread across his face as I leaned my least sore cheek into his palm and closed my own eyes enjoying the sparks tingling across my cheek.  It kind of felt like just his touch was making the soreness leave my cheek.  I quickly leaned into his other hand and noticed the same reaction on it.  I wondered if it would have the same effect on my still stinging back as I opened my eyes and stared at him again.  He smiled at me affectionately as he said, "I will be as patient as you need me to be, mate.  Tell me, what is your name?"     I returned his smile as I replied, "Coralanna.  What's your name, mate?"     "Coralanna," he repeated, making me smile even wider. "That is a beautiful name for a beautiful shewolf.  My name is Anton and I am Andrea's older brother?"     "Would you like to sit with me?" I asked starting to feel the ache in my sore feet.     "Of course," he said as he quickly sat down then pulled me into his lap.  As he tried to rest his hand on my back, but I winced while hissing from the pain caused by the contact.  His eyes went wide with worry, then he suddenly stood up and carried me downstairs where I had first woke up after I got here.  When we got down there, he gently set me down on one of the cots, then asked, "Can I see your back?  If you aren't comfortable showing me, I will understand, but I would like to know where all you are hurt so that I know to be careful around those areas."     I took a deep breath of air, then nodded my head before I slowly started to the lift the dress.  Anton seen the look of pain cross my face from the action and quickly took over.  He very gently pulled the sundress the rest of the off of me as I closed my eyes, not sure if I wanted to see the look on his face when he sees how scarred I am from the numerous beatings I dealt with over that past ten years.       After a second, I decided to open my eyes and see how he was reacting since he was being so silent.  I could see so many different emotions swirling in those dark blues eyes of his.  I could feel his gaze on my back when he walked around to the other side of me, then I felt as his fingers traced the most prominent scar that wasn't new.       I heard a little sniffle behind me followed by a little shuffling, before his arms wrapped around me from behind.  I leaned back against his now bare chest and enjoyed the sparks that danced across my wounded back.  Instantly I could feel the pain slowly subside from my sore back.  I sighed in response to the much needed comfort he was providing me.  He gently nuzzled his face into the crook of my neck as he took deep inhales of my scent.  I could feel tears fall onto my neck and soothingly said, "Anton, please don't cry."     "I'm so sorry I didn't find you and help you before they did all of this to you.  I'm so sorry, mate," he cried as he held onto me even tighter.     I turned my head and kissed him on the cheek before I said, "Mate, you are helping me more right now than you could ever possibly imagine, and that means the world to me."
