Three. There were three people growing inside of me. Everyone around me was brimming with excitement and joy, but I wasn’t feeling their enthusiasm. All I could see was my body being destroyed and the responsibility for carrying, birthing, and raising three different children. It was a lot to process, and I just wanted desperately to be alone, but everywhere I turned someone was there. When night fell and all my mates were sound asleep around me, I lay awake thinking about how quickly my life was going to change, all the things I needed to get, all the things I needed to do.
