Hazel came back. I wasn’t expecting it, but I was relieved that she did. She felt different though. She didn’t feel as guarded or angry. She felt calm, content.
“I don’t think she had magic before. I couldn’t smell it, but now I can.” Athena mused as she peaked out of my eyes to watch the sleeping woman. I wonder when the last time she got proper rest was.
“I don’t know. Maybe, ever. I think maybe she’s been through a lot. We should ask Asher.” Athena said.
“Leave her to her secrets. She will tell us if she wants us to know. I’m just glad she’s here.” I said. I felt Athena agree with me.
“Does it bother you that only one of our mates is a wolf?” I asked her.
“Not really. I don’t think it matters as much as humans think it does.” She said thoughtfully.
