Eddie also represented a triumph in the healing arts. His treatments had been swift, and his recuperation times could have set medical history, assuming anyone else had the money for the procedures and 24-hour, round-the-clock treatment. Since cost was no problem, new things were tried and many worked quite well. Eddie was medical science’s creation perhaps a hundred years ahead of its time. He was also healthy enough to benefit from treatments that had been tried on others and failed. That was why he kept coming back, and that was why he was here now. A new enhancement was in store for him, even though Eddie didn’t know what it was as yet. “Don’t tell him about this one,” Eddie’s Arab had told the surgeon. “Let’s surprise him.”
