Chapter 6 chicken out

Mercury’s P.O.V

  I wonder if Cheyenne knows that she was adopted, probably not. I wonder what else they kept her in the dark about? I decided not to tell her, but Asher started pacing back and forth in my head.

  “If you don't tell her she will be mad at you too.” Asher said, but I shook my head.

  “I'll handle that when the time comes. In two days its the party and I need her strong, not some child crying over stupid s**t. Huge people are coming, Alpha’s from other packs will be asking for help. She will be mine to show off, so I don't want to hear anything else about it.” I said, growling back at Asher and he went back to his corner, whimpering in my head.

  “When all of this goes to s**t and it will, I'll be the one telling you I told you so.” Asher said and cut the link off. I drank another beer and walked back up to Cheyenne’s room, I opened the door and to my surprise she was still up. I cleared my throat and made her jump, turning around to look at me.

  “I'm having a party in two days and I want you to wear that light green strapless dress, with the jewellery and shoes to match. I'll be sending Cindy in here tomorrow to help you walk proper, meaning shoulders back and not looking down while you walk. You will talk with respect and she will teach you. I have very important people coming, so I want you to be on your best behaviour. Is that clear?” I said and all she did was look at me as if I had lost my mind and then she started to laugh.

  “Listen, you might have spoken to your other whores and captives like this, but YOU WILL NOT talk to me like this. I know how to walk and talk, I don't need your friend’s help. Asshole and just think I thought that you were actually starting to be nice. Boy was I wrong, you just a jerk.” Cheyenne said and this angered me. I walked forward and pushed her against the wall, squeezing her throat just enough for her to understand and pay attention to me.

  “NO! YOU LISTEN b***h! You will do what you are told and if you embarrass me saturday then there will be consequences. You see that door over there? You do not want me to open it do you or maybe you do.” I said, grabbing her by the hair and dragging her over to the door, opening it and making her look inside.

  “What are you doing? You're going to hurt her. Mercury stop, stop this right now.” Asher said in my head, but I didn't care. I wanted to see how she was going to react and what she was going to do.

  Cheyenne’s P.O.V

  I looked up as he put the light on and saw that there was a bed inside, there were whips and ball gags and some other things that I didn't even know what they were. 

  “What the f**k is this?” I said, looking up at him and pulling away from him. I walked into the room and took a closer look, this didn't scare me, if anything I thought that it looked humourous. Who the hell would want to wear a ball gag and actually like it? 

  “You're a psychopath aren’t you?” I said, shaking my head and walked away. This is just great the big bad boss was nothing else but a f*****g psychopath. Mercury stormed after me and grabbed me by my arm, turning me around to face him.

  “Im not a f*****g psychopath! Don't make me ruin that pretty little face of yours before the party. Trust me I have different rooms and if that room wasn't scary enough then the others will.” Mercury said, but I just rolled my eyes at him. I knew it probably wasn't the best idea to piss him off, but it was so easy and so much fun that i couldn't help myself.

  “Listen, if you don't mind, i need my sleep. I have to go to work tomorrow. Will Trevor be driving me since I left my car there and I will need a ride.” I said, smirking at him and showing him that he didn't scare me in the slightest.

  “I'll be giving you a ride, just have your ass ready.” Mercury said and I mock saluted him, walking away from him and back to my room. I knew he was just trying to test me, he wouldn't hurt me and I don't know how I knew that, but I just did.

  Mercury’s P.O.V

  I walked away from her and couldn't help laughing at what she said and did. No matter what I did, nothing seemed to surprise, shock or scare her.

  “Damn, she's feisty. Just the woman I've been looking for, she might just be able to handle all of this.” I said to myself, walking back to my room. I got in my room, stripped down to my boxers and lay down on the bed, putting the TV on. I started watching a movie called Falling, but I fell asleep halfway through it.

  Cheyenne’s P.O.V

  The next day I woke up and when I looked at the time I realised it was five am and I had exactly thirty minutes to get to work, as it was my turn to open up this morning. I jumped out of bed and hurried to get dressed, brushed my hair and quickly put it in a ponytail. I ran downstairs and saw Mercury sitting there, just about to drink his coffee.

  “No time for that, I have thirty….no make that twenty-five minutes to get to work. I'll make you a cup when we get there.” I said, as he grunted and turned around, pouring the coffee away and putting the cup in the sink. We left the house, got in the car and Mercury pulled away, speeding all the way to my work. We pulled onto the parking lot, got out of the car and I ran over, quickly unlocking the doors and going inside to switch everything on. I made Mercury a cup of coffee and then turned the steamers on and got everything else ready. I flipped the sign over from closed to open and went back to see Mercury had just finished drinking his coffee.

  “I'll be back in a few hours to pick you up.” Mercury said and I nodded, turning to the customer that had just got to the counter. I finished serving the customer and pulled my phone out, I had to message Amber.

Me - Hey girl, I know it's early, but wake your ass up and come over to the coffee shop.

I waited for a few minutes for her to reply, but she didn't, so I put my phone back in my pocket and proceeded to serve the next customer. I waited on a woman who wanted a coffee, but she wanted two shots in it, so I made it and after I was done I pulled my phone back out of my pocket, checking to see if Amber had text me back yet.

Amber - Damn girl, where the hell have you been. I'll be there shortly, I need a strong coffee.

  Typing….typing…..typing….

Me - Alright, it will be made when you get here. Lots to talk about, see you when you get here.

I put my phone back in my pocket and made two coffees for the next customer, who was a strange man with a teardrop tattoo under his eye.

  “Thanks doll, I'll be seeing you.” The man said, smirking at me. I didn't pay him no mind though because I saw  Amber running up to the shop. Amber ran through the door and straight up to me, hugging me tightly.

  “Where the hell have you been, woman?” Amber asked, pulling away from me and I led her to a table so we could sit down. I told her everything that had happened to me since the last time i saw her and she just sat there in shock with her mouth open.

  “Holy s**t! I'm surprised you haven't jumped his bones yet if he's that hot. I would, I mean its just s*x right and then damn girl do it, then just go back to your room. You say there's a party in two days, that would just make it better.” Amber said, making me laugh.

  “Trust me girl, it's tempting. He's hot in all the right places and has tattoos everywhere, makes me wonder where else he has them.” I replied and Amber started laughing.

  “Then just look and play, but give me all the details after.” Amber said, wanting to know everything.

  “I'll think about it, but you need to head out before he comes back in. My shift is almost over and he will be back to pick me up.” I said, looking at the time.

  “Well damn, I was hoping to meet him, but you’re right. I don't want you getting into trouble.” Amber said, standing up and hugging me again.

  “Don't be a stranger, keep in touch, okay.” Amber said and I nodded.

  “I will.” I replied and with that Amber left to go home. I was so caught up in telling her everything that had happened that I completely forgot to ask how it went with Cody, but then again if he chickened out and didn't ask her then I would out him to her and that wasn't right. An hour later and Charlie turned up to take my place.

  “Make the deposit and I will go to the bank tomorrow to deposit it and make sure the steamers are cleaned out.” I said to Charlie and he nodded. I got my stuff, clocked out and was about to leave when Mercury walked back into the shop. I stopped in my tracks and without even noticing I started to look him up and down, but quickly recovered before he even noticed what I did.

  Mercury’s P.O.V

  I know I had to get there in a hurry as she was about to clock out, but when I got there I didn't want her to see me rushing into the shop, so I took my time. I stepped inside the shop just as she reached the door to open it and I didn’t miss her checking me out and looking me up and down, but I kept it to myself. If the girl wants to check me out then that's fine by me.

  “You ready?” I asked and she nodded yes.

  “Are you hungry?” I asked and she again nodded. We walked to the car and headed to Subway. We went inside and got the footlong cold cut with extra meat, while she got the turkey and ham with extra meat. We took them to go and got back in the car.

  “I'm going to drop you off at the house, me and the guys have something to do tonight and then I'll be back.” I said and she sighed.

  “Alright, be careful with whatever you're going to do. I'm going to take a shower and relax when i get back.” Cheyenne said and then went quiet. Why was she telling me to be careful? Was she worried about me?

  “Hey, this guy came into the shop today, he had a teardrop tattoo under his eye. He was a little creepy when he left and said he’ll be seeing me.” Cheyenne said and I started chuckling.

  “Don't worry about him, he's my cousin. He was looking for me, he's my guy when I want things done.” I replied and she just nodded. The rest of the ride she was silent and I wondered what she was thinking.

  Cheyenne’s P.O.V

  Yeah right, he probably just sent that guy in there to check up on and see if I was still there. We got back to the house and Mercury pulled up outside, got out of the car and then came round, opening my door for me. 

  “I'll see you in a few hours.” Mercury said and kissed me on the cheek. He didn't give me a chance to say anything before he turned and got back into the car, leaving. I stood there watching him leave and reached up, touching my cheek with my fingertips.

  “Alright, it's on like donkey kong now.” i said to myself and went inside the house. I went upstairs to my room, ate my sub and then took a long hot shower. I grabbed my robe and put it on, deciding that I was going to wait in his room, until he got back home. I walked to his room, went inside, laid in his bed and turned the TV on. I didn't realise I had fallen asleep until I heard a door open and close and then the shower starting up. Thankfully the TV had one of those features that turned itself off after not being used. Tonight was not the night I thought, as I carefully snuck out of his room and went back to mine. I was so glad that I wasn't seen, I thought, breathing a sigh of relief when I got back inside my room. What the hell was I about to do?
