“Savannah,” Samuel said, making a shiver run down my spine. Why does he do that to me?
“Yeah,” I said. “I’m still trying to sleep.”
He chuckled. “I want to speak with your father.”
My eyes shot open.
“What?”
“I want to speak with your father.”
“I heard you. That was a question for clarification,” I said. “Why? What are you going to say to him?
“Not sure yet,” he said quickly with a frown.
“I think you should prepare.”
“Yeah, I guess so. I know he hates me and he has good reason too.”
“He is changing and, now that you’re my mate, he said he would try.”
“I’m not sure if I want to join a pack,” he said looking away. His light hair stood up on end. He must have slept here all night.
“Why not?” I asked.
“In my pack, it was a lot of responsibility.” Says the guy who wanted to create his own.
“You were also going to be Alpha,” I said.
“True, but that doesn’t change the fact that being in a pack is a lot of work and I don’t think I’m ready just yet.”
I laughed, “You’re a dork.” If only he knew what I did.
“I am not,” he snapped.
“Yes, you really are.”
He groaned, “Whatever.”
He gets grouchy quickly.
He slid out of the bed. “I better go,” he said.
“That’s up to you.” I closed my eyes before I felt his hands trail down my face.
“I don’t,” he whispered. My bed dipped down.
“Don’t try anything,” I growled.
“I won’t.”
Sure you won’t, I chuckled.
“What’s so funny?”
“Nothing. I was just thinking.”
I felt safe with Samuel, oddly enough. I figure it’s because we’re mates, but I could help thinking that wasn’t the only reason.
“What were you thinking about?” he asked. If he keeps acting all sweet like this I could tell him all my secrets and that’s not good.
“Not much.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“Whatever,” I covered my face with my hands. “Are you going to stay now?”
“Maybe.”
I groaned. Why do I find him so annoying?
“Savannah,” Kade’s voice boomed throughout the house.
“You better go.”
“I will,” he kissed my head, taking my scent in and left. He does that a lot. I mean my scent can’t be that good, can it?
“Savannah,” Kade boomed again.
Once Samuel left, I felt a pang in my chest. What’s up with that?
“Come in,” I muttered, knowing he can hear me.
“Okay, well I wa-“ He paused. “Samuel,” he growled.
“Chill. How would you like if every time I went into you room and said “Lily” Grrr,” I mocked.
“It’s different.”
“He is my mate and she is yours.”
“He is a trespasser and hated by everyone, not to mention a rogue.”
“Whatever,” I grumbled. “What were you going to say?” I asked.
“If you’re going to be a grouch, don’t come,” he crossed his arms
“Go where?”
“Were going for a run. Jason, Hannah, Jack, me, and some guards.”
“Okay, sure.” I could use a run right now.
It was good for us to go for a run every so often. It helps our senses to stay strong and it’s going to be good for Hannah. She needs training.
“I’ll meet you out back.”
“Okay,” he left, shutting the door on the way out.
I crawled out of my window. Maybe I won’t fix it. No one was here, so I walked into the woods, hid behind a rock, and stripped before phasing into my wolf. I lifted my head and sniffed the air. Everything was so much clearer. I could smell the freshly mowed lawns and hear the kids playing in their pools. There were at least three boys and three girls. Wait. Nope. Five girls, talking about how cute the guys were. Soon I heard the other wolves approaching. I turned to face them. Jason and Jack looked a lot alike. They both had thick brown fur. Jason’s was darker. I looked over to see the guard. No way, he was so not coming. Damon was a black wolf, like his father, who, thankfully, wasn’t here. David was here and Adam. I think that’s what his name was. There was also Gordon. He looked good now.
A growl rippled through my body.
“He has to come, Savannah, dad said so,” Kade said.
“Whatever, he better stay out of my way. I will not put up with his crap today,” I blocked him out before he could reply.
Looking away from them, I started off with a light jog. Did Damon have to come? Of all people, him. A low growl rumbled through my chest. Oops. I was too angry to control it.
I quickened my pace. I could hear the rest of them behind me. Soon, someone rubbed against me. It was Jason. He looked at me with his wide loving eyes. I ignored him and quickened my pace. He easily matched it. I snapped at him.
“Go away I’m fine,” I growled.
“That alone tells me something else,” he replied.
“Whatever.” Another growl rippled through my chest. Then I picked up a familiar scent, Samuel.
From behind me I heard growls warning everyone about the scent.
“Savannah, rogue. We need to turn around,” David said
“It’s just one. Harmless,” I replied, since I knew who it was.
“It could be a trap.”
“Okay, I’ll run later.” I turned to face everyone. They stopped and stared at me. I let out a bark, telling everyone to turn around. They did it on command.
“Savannah, I’m picking up another scent. It’s not Samuel,” Jason said.
“David, we have another scent,” I said. He slowed down.
“Yes it is. Can you get home? I will take Gordon and follow the scent,” David asked.
“Yes. Gordon, go with David,” I said.
“Yes, ma’am,” Gordon slowed down until he was behind David.
“Good luck and be careful.”
“We will.”
I nodded to them and then ran to catch up with the rest of the group. I hope they don’t find Samuel.
