Draco pov.
“Yes, your majesty!”
Was the humble reply of all who were present in the courtroom. No one dared even lift their eyes at the powerful king who stood tall and proud in front of them. When he heard what he wanted to, he just waved his golden staff, making golden glitter like things swirl around him and then he disappeared.
I blinked a couple of times. He just vanished into the thin air! How in the world was that even possible? But this was not the world I knew. At least now I know that worlds other than the one I was born in existed. And it was hidden from us. Heavens knew how many of these worlds existed. Perhaps even aliens were true. Maybe the sightings of the UFOs were true. Now I don’t know what to believe and what to deny.
I wanted to ask so many questions but I was forbidden. I was not allowed to open my mouth as I was restrained by an unseen force. But from what I see, these people are way too powerful than me, a normal human. They even addressed me as a ‘worthless mortal’. Were these people immortal? What kind of a place was this? I wanted to go home!
For the first time in a long while, I felt the need to feel the warmth of my home. I missed the cosy environment in which I grew up. I wanted to stay in the comfort of the shelter of my house. My little house had a warm fireplace to warm me up during the winter.
Of course, I had the latest heater systems. But still, relaxing beside the fireplace was something else. It brought back memories of my childhood when my mom would read stories for me every night during the winter.
I was not married, so I didn’t feel the need to buy a huge house even though I could afford it. For me, the single room house with a comfortable bed to rest was more than enough. That was the place I lived all my life. That was where I got all my love from my late mother. And since I had no interest in falling in love and starting a life, that place was just perfect for me.
I was still lost in my thoughts when I was taken to a huge palace that was built over water. It looked so majestic. Never in my life had I thought that I would see such a magnificent place for real. I thought these places only existed in fairy tales and cartoons. But this place was just like that. Like a palace in a fairy tale.
It had a gigantic gate that only opened when they mumbled some gibberish in a language alien to me. The palace had many doors and windows. There was a grand staircase at the main door and numerous towers stood tall and proud, with triangular-shaped flags that waved with the breeze. The walls were painted in a light shade of green while the rooftops were in a darker shade. There were golden curves drawn on the walls and the entrances and the whole place looked so surreal.
However, it was there, right in front of my eyes, but this place was definitely out of this world. The railing of the staircases looked like they were made of pure gold while the doors were decorated with what looked like real pearls.
Was that real.....? I thought.
I gaped at the exquisite decorations of the grand place which no one on earth could have even thought of possessing. If the doors and staircases were made of such rare and expensive materials, I wonder what was used inside of the palace.
I was amazed beyond words, alas, my tongue was still tied up with an invisible force making it impossible for me to utter a single word. The guards took me inside. I continued to look around in utter shock. The inside of the palace looked so dreamy.
The pillars of the palace looked as if they were magically lit. They emitted white light lighting up the whole interior. Little balls were moving up and down in each pillar and I had no idea how in the world they did that. The floor looked transparent. I could see the fish swimming under the palace, adding to my astonishment. How in the world did they do this? The walls were in the same light shade of green and the ceiling had a magnificent chandelier in the centre. There were beautiful drawings on the ceiling in gold and silver, making me gape at it in awe.
But what amazed me the most was the fragrance that hit my nostrils as soon as I entered the palace. It most certainly was the most amazing smell I had ever smelt in my entire life. Perhaps, that scent was out of this world. Never had I smelt something so amazing on earth, not even the best of perfumes.
We entered a huge room which I guessed was the throne room. The king and the queen were already waiting for us on their throne, which was on a little stage that was floating in mid-air. The throne looked like it was made of a green crystal, which had an amazing green glow of its own.
What was with these people and floating. They sure loved being able to hover over everything. I thought, slightly feeling amused at the thought. However, my amusement died down soon enough when I felt his death glare fixed on me.
“Your majesty!” the guards bowed down in respect.
“Here is your slave, your royal highness.” They said, making me feel uncomfortable.
Slave?
“Good. Now leave.” His thundering voice echoed in the palace, making my heart thud in fear. The guards quickly obliged leaving me shivering in fear. Only me, the king and queen with their royal guards were in the throne room.
“Human!” he bellowed, making a shiver go down my spine. I felt goosebumps crawl all over my skin, while I felt my heartbeat like crazy.
Why does his voice make me feel like this? Is he that powerful? And why the hell was I regarded as his slave? Oh f**k. This is messed up.
With a flick of his hand, I felt the unseen forces that bound me being released. I faced the guy with long white hair, on his head and his face. He sure looked powerful.
No. He didn’t just look powerful, he indeed was powerful. He emitted such an aura that was making me scared shitless.
“I am your master and you shall serve me and my family!” he ordered.
I gulped. I don’t have a choice. Do I?
“Slave! Go and cook dinner for us!” ordered the queen. She glared at me as if she already hated me. She wore a white robe that matched that of the king. And just like all the others, she looked flawless. Her skin, her bright red hair, everything.
They looked so good as they sat on the glowing green throne in their white robes with golden decorations. But all I could think of was how I was going to make food for them. From what I have seen, their food was completely different from what I called food.
“But.....I don’t know.....” I stammered.
“Silence!” the king bellowed, making the palace rumble.
“Slaves don’t talk unless they are allowed to.” He spat at me, slamming his golden staff on the ground while his black eyes suddenly started to glow and his hair slowly started to shine, giving it a silvery glow.
“Darling.....it’s ok. Don’t lose control over this piece of trash. We can always put him under Volga. He will make sure this slave does all the work right and on time.” The queen cooed, caressing the king’s arm making him slowly calm down.
To tell the truth, I was glad she did that. I most certainly don’t want to see him lose control. He could finish me off with a single flick of his hand. So I was not interested in finding out what he might be able to do if he lost control of whatever powers he possessed.
“Yes! This slave is to be placed under Volga.” He muttered and turned towards his right to order one of his guards.
“Bring Volga to me!” he ordered.
The guard bowed down and scurried away to carry out orders. Soon enough, he was back with a huge person. No, not a person, a massive thing. Whoever this was had his hair and thick bushy beard messy, unlike all the other ‘creatures’ I had come across in this bizarre place. He was gigantic and I’m sure he was a mountain of pure muscle. But what scared me the most was his facial expression. He looked as if he was forever pissed off. His hard, emotionless, unsmiling face was enough to make my day from bad to worse. And right now, my day has already escalated from bad to worse.
I gulped down, hard, realising that my days here would be far from being easy. Forget easy, I will have to use my wit if I want to survive.
“Volga, I order you to take this slave and make him do all the work in the palace. Make sure that he does a good job. And if he resists, you have the authority to punish him.” The king ordered.
I blinked. All the work? Punishment? Good grief, just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse than it already was.Volga bowed down wordlessly and harshly grabbed my arm. I flinched in pain but I dared not utter a single sound. He dragged me towards the kitchen and pushed me inside and pointed to a pile of what looked like crawling little insects.
“What the f**k! Do you expect me to clean that?!!!!”
