CHAPTER TWENTY An hour and a half later, at twelve-thirty in the afternoon, Stella pulled up outside Walter Jardine’s offices in Saratoga Springs. It had been a long drive. She had tried to suppress her growing anxiety as the miles and minutes passed, reassuring herself by thinking that this trip might lead to a breakthrough in the case. Walter owned a clothing distribution company. When she arrived at the premises, Stella was surprised by the scale of it. Set in a commercial part of town, the modern, glassed, double-story offices backed onto an enormous warehouse.
