Chapter 11

1739 Words
(Alexia POV) I took Alexia to the park since he was adamant about going around and showing his new hair to everyone. Although I felt insecure about taking him out at that moment, I couldn’t say no. Not after the 'do you hate me' episode. I put on a scarf around his shoulders since it was getting cold outside. I didn't like the fact that we had to colour his hair when he was so young. It hurts me more because the reason we coloured his hair was to hide from his own father. Right now, my baby's golden hair has been changed to dark brown, almost black, making sure the colour looks as natural as possible. "Which sandwich do you want to eat, Cassy?" Glenda shouted from the kitchen. "It's done. Go to her and decide." I smiled and kissed his forehead. My little boy nodded his head before swiftly running out of the room. I stood up and looked in the mirror, biting my lower lip. I really wish things didn't turn out like this. Now that I knew everything we shared was a lie, it hurt me more. If only we hadn’t gone to that ceremony. I changed into my dress, which was dull brown and had long sleeves. My hair was brushed and left in the breeze since I was too lazy to style it. I had dark circles under my eyes, so I used a bit of makeup to cover them up. When I walked out of the room, the two of them were waiting for me with excitement. After a 10 minute walk, we reached the park. The place was crowded as usual, since it was a holiday. "Don't go far and stay where I can watch you, ok?" I told my son, who nodded, kissed my cheek before running off somewhere. "Don't worry. We will be alright." Glenda put her hand on top of mine, giving it a squeeze. I smiled although it was a tight one, before looking around. I was feeling very uncomfortable and I knew I was being paranoid, but I couldn't stop, but felt like someone was watching me. I sighed, rubbing my aching head. It had been there since yesterday and it had only worsened with the little to no sleep I had yesterday. We had chosen to sit in the shade under the tree, so I leaned my back to that tree, closing my eyes as I hoped to fall asleep. But it was quickly interrupted as I felt a scent hit my nose. My heart beat fast as I sat up straight, looking around desperately. There was no doubt about what I was feeling. I felt fear building inside me, my breathing getting harder. "What happened?"Glenda asked, shocked at how I stood up. I didn't look at her as I started searching for my baby. Where is he? "Alexia?" "We need to get out." I mumbled as her eyes widened. She didn't ask more as she nodded and started packing the things. The scent was getting stronger and stronger and it made me panic more and more. I spotted my son playing with his friends near the slide. I walked to him quickly, not caring about anything else. Right now, my only aim is to get him and go back home. In a hurry, I failed to notice a tree root struck out from the ground. To my worst luck, I tripped. I let out a surprise shout, waiting for the fall. But it never happened. Instead, I felt sparks burst. My skin exploded with a tingling sensation and I opened my eyes only to see the ground a few inches away from my face. "Alex! Are you OK!" My heart dropped as the familiar voice I had missed filled my ear. The sparks I felt were getting more and more prominent as I stayed in the position. But the man had other plans. He pushed me up straight before hugging me from behind. The force made both of us go to our knees, but before mine touched the ground, he pulled back, making me fall on his lap. But the tight hug he had around me was still strong. I froze in my place as he buried his face into my neck, taking a deep breath. "M-mate!" his voice was shaking, but I still find it sexy. "M-my mate. I t-thought I lost you. I miss you." His muttering made me even more miserable. I squeezed my eyes shut as tears filled them. I knew he was crying as well, but what I don't understand is why. All the things he did to me came into my mind as I ground my teeth. I wanted to push him away. I wanted to scream and shout at him. I wanted to show him how much pain I felt but I held it in. I was already the centre of attraction in this public place and causing a scene would cause even more of a mess. "Le-let go of me!" I said, lightly tugging his hands that were wrapped around me. "Please." It took a few seconds, but he really let me go. The moment I was released, I got away from his lap. My eyes widened at his appearance. It was Luka that I knew. The fake identity of my so called mate. Even after all that has happened, he still doesn't plan to expose his secret to me. I felt anger build inside me. "Alex." he called, making me sigh. I wiped my tears, making sure not to look into his eyes, "Let's talk somewhere private." I was planning to make Glenda take my son back home. I didn't want him to see my son, but fate once again slapped me in the face. "Mummy!" Cassy screamed as he ran to me. His face was filled with worry as he looked at me before turning to his father. He spread his arms wide in a protective way, glaring at the man who made his mother cry. "What did you do to my mummy, mister?" he growled. My mate looked taken back by the statement. "M-mummy?" his face went pale as he looked at the child and then at me. I decided to ignore him as I gave my full attention to my son. "Baby, it's alright. I am fine ok? Let's go home." I smiled at my child before looking at Glenda, whose face was filled with worry. "Come on, Cassy." Glenda called, but my baby refused to go, tightening his hold on my skirt. I only sighed and took him into my hands. "Come with me." I turned around without even looking at my mate. I don't care if he follows me or not, but deep down I wish he didn't, so we would not have the conversation. While walking to my house, I tried to have a talk with my child to reduce my distressed mood, but the only thing he asked was if I was OK and who that mister was. "He is a guest at our house. When you reach home, why don't you go with Aunt Glenda and prepare some of your special sandwich?" "I don't want to give it to him." Cassy stubbornly crossed his hands, letting out a 'Humph' at the end. I could only chuckle at his antics, "It's for me. Mummy will feel better if she eats your special food." My baby gleamed at my statement and nodded his head excitedly, "Ok." When we reached home, I turned around to finally look at my mate but paused as I saw he was not alone. There were two other men with him and for some reason I felt I knew who they were. The hair and eye colour was different, but now that I know how well they can disguise I knew it was the viziers. "Come in." I said, my voice bland. I didn't take them to the house but to the bakery. They sat on one of the tables I gestured at. The three of them were silent as they made their way to the seats. The two viziers, without any question, moved to another seat, leaving my mate alone at the table. "Go make me a sandwich, OK?" I said, kissing my child's cheek before handing him over to Glenda. "You sure you will be OK?" Glenda asked as I smiled. I didn't even know what would happen, but there was nothing I could do to prevent it. We will have this conversation sooner or later, so why not now? I silently went to the counter and prepared tea as I could feel the eyes of three on me. I put a pot on the vizier's table with sugar and cups before taking the other to his table. I sat down opposite to him and looked straight into his eyes. "Alex." he called my name, making my heart jump. I tried to control my ragged breath although it was turning more and more miserable. "Yes?" "I missed you." I tried to keep my face void as I stared at him. "I doubt that." "How can you say that, Alex? You left me all of a sudden with no words or whereabouts. Do you know how miserable it was for me?" "You think it was not miserable for me?" I glared at him, tears threatening to fall down my eyes. "Tell me. When were you planning to tell me that you lied to me the entire time? When were you going to tell me you are the king? Everything we had was a lie and you dare tell me you were miserable? Do you know how heartbreaking I felt when I saw you with a woman who clinged on you? Declaring to everyone that you were her fiancé?" "You... how did you..." he paused, his eyes widening in realization. "No! It's not like that! It was not my wish. It was an arrangement by my father." "Oh! I am sorry! I didn't know that!" I said sarcastically while glaring at him. "Then it was my mistake." "Ale-" "No. Don't call my name so casually. I am Alexia to you." He stared at me with wide eyes, "Please..." I looked away, ignoring his plea. I don't know why, but in a quick second, he changed his tactics. "That kid. He is my child, isn't he?"
