CHAPTER 26 As glad as I am Mom isn’t around, I know as soon as I step into the foyer of Orchard Grove Bible Church that I made a huge mistake coming here. I’m immediately accosted by a dozen of Mom’s cronies from the women’s missionary league, and they all want to know what I’m doing in town. “Don’t you still live in Spokane?” “Isn’t your mother still out east?” “Aren’t you celebrating Christmas at your brother’s?” At least I don’t get a bunch of the men coming up and telling me that they remember me all the way back from when I was this high.
