Tessa’s POV There was silence in the room as everyone turned to face me. My eyes were on Joseph, and he gave me a wary look in return. “I’m going home to the country to see my father,” I said, turning to address everyone. “I haven’t seen him in a while, and I miss him.” I ran my fingers through my hair, and everyone began to murmur amongst themselves, turning away from me. I looked at Ruby who looked like she was trying hard to not burst out laughing. I gave her a warning look but then grinned at her face. After class, I didn’t wait for Joseph like I usually would.
