“Sir, there is an attack,” a hurried voice sounded from the outside of the car’s window.
A pair of dark eyes looked back indifferently and his thin lips moved to give out an order, “Take care of it soon.”
“Yes, Sir.” The subordinate followed his boss’s orders without any delay while the boss looked back at his laptop to take care of his work.
A series of gun shots sounded from the outside with a few sounds of growls and wails accompanying them.
Yet William did not frown nor did he flinch as he immersed himself in his work.
After a while, the subordinate that talked earlier was back again as he hurriedly knocked on the car’s window, “Sir, something went wrong. I think it is better for you to leave from the back.”
William’s expressionless face finally changed as he frowned at his subordinate’s words.
He wanted to fight for himself but after thinking for a while, he nodded his head.
The subordinate heaved a sigh of relief. He was really worried that his boss would not agree to go through the back but insist on fighting himself.
Though he knew that his boss was stronger than anyone else, under the current circumstances, he really did not want his boss to endanger his life.
The subordinate, Evan, respectfully opened the car door for his boss to escort him out of the chaos surrounding them.
William did not change any of his expressions as he leisurely got out of the car and started walking slowly as if he was on a stroll around the park.
A few bodyguards surrounded William as he was escorted safely to a nearby alley which was very small and inconspicuous.
As soon as he reached the alley safely, all the bodyguards transformed into huge-sized wolves as they growled and started attacking the assailants.
William did not give them another glance as he continued walking in a different direction in a calm and steady manner.
In any other circumstances, he would have turned around long ago to transform himself into his wolf and take care of the attackers all by himself.
When did he, William, the alpha of his pack, ever leave without confronting his enemies like the way he was doing now?
But now? He knew that he had no other choice. He is not someone that could not understand the reality and accept it.
Instead, he is someone who would take into consideration all the practical aspects of the situation and act upon the most perfect way to get the required result.
That is the only reason he was not ashamed or felt guilty that he now had to leave through the backdoor when a fight ensued in the front.
He was calm only because he knew that this was the best route for the best result.
Hence, he did not care about anything and concentrated on leaving the place so as not to allow his underlings to be distracted by his presence, which might affect their fight.
Evan was the only one now standing beside him while escorting out the place as he was looking for the vehicle he had already arranged for this escape a few minutes earlier.
After leaving the small alley, Evan led William towards another smaller alley. After walking around for a few more twists and turns, Evan glanced at William and hesitantly spoke, “Sir, how about you rest here for a while? I will arrange for the car to come here.”
William wanted to decline the offer but he glanced at his feet once before pursing his lips. He gave a slight nod as a reply before taking a seat on a small rock at the side.
Evan felt sorry looking at him in such a situation, but he couldn’t help his master either.
Hence, he used a few tissues to clean his boss’s forehead from sweat and turned around to leave the small street to look out for any possible dangers.
He definitely will not allow anyone to agitate his boss, which may result in him fighting back.
Definitely not.
He encouraged himself before he looked forwards and found a shadow flashing by. He immediately turned vigilant and transformed. He then started sniffing around to find the scent of the person who had just flashed by.
Once he got the whiff of the intruder, he did not delay before he went in the found direction.
‘I got the sidekick to follow behind me. You go attack the cripple now,’ a wolf mind linked with his teammates as he addressed William as a cripple.
Knowing that Evan was successfully trapped, the intruders started walking in the direction at which William was resting.
William sensed someone around and started looking at all his sides.
He had always been vigilant, but at this moment, he was not in a position to fight back even if someone were to attack him suddenly.
This was the first time he had ever felt helplessness in his life.
He bit his lips and slowly brought himself to stand up.
The moment his weight fell over his foot, he took a huge breath in. He was in pain.
But he was never one to show his weakness in front of someone.
His face looked as cold and composed as ever. It was as if he never knew the meaning of pain.
He slowly walked, trying to find a location to hide until Evan came back with a way to escape.
He could already hear the sounds of shuffling from behind and he increased his pace a little.
“Well, well. What do we have here? Our poor little Alpha is trying to run away instead of fighting back? When did our Alpha become a coward and weak?” William heard the mocking voice from his back and came to a stop.
He turned around to find a huge wolf standing in front of him with a sneer. He knew this wolf. He knew him a little too well.
After all, he was the one who had betrayed him and their pack once.
