Chapter 30

3450 Words
Farrell's POV If Aylee is in danger, I am going to chase down whoever is doing that. And I am going to make sure he or she will realize that there is no Hell above. Hell is what I am going to show him just because he harms my mate. I only hope she is okay. I really do. If something happens to her, I swear on the Moon Goddess I am going to break anyone who's involved in this. Lyon stopped at the place where I shifted yesterday and I took the entire control back. Dressing myself again was such a hard thing to do right now especially when I was running out of time. As I run for Sebastian, he just woke up and he is looking at me wide eyed clearly not expecting me to wake up this fast. But I only had four hours of sleep considering I had a wolf run and watched Aylee cry at the pond. "Is there any information from The Moon Set Pack?" I ask him in a rush and he narrows his eyes at me in confusion. "Not yet. Are we expected to?" He asks me back. The news isn't out yet. What if she is not in her room and somewhere else? And her family doesn't even know. Because her father however cares less even if she is alive or dead. Hard but fact. "Wake everyone up! Now!!! It's an emergency meeting," I scream at Sebastian and he doesn't even move an inch. But he is just staring at me wide eyed, as if I am possessed by something or someone. "Do you want me to order my Beta?" I ask him back, and he is standing straight now all of his sleep is gone with what I said. He bows to me once and walks away. I take a few steps towards The Moon Set Pack's gates. I don't even know what is happening inside. What if they are not letting the news out, afraid I would use that as a leverage and attack them when their Alpha isn't here? I know that might be what they think because they don't know that I am the mate of Alpha Aylee and if something happens to her, I am going to kill everyone in sight. I know my common sense is slowly leaving my body. But I have searched a mile radius from the pond in all directions. Lyon ran at his maximum speed to search for her and we still did not find her. Even if she is safe, I want to know that. I want to know that she is in her home still sleeping. Or if she is training. Or eating. Or merely just sitting in her chair and doing nothing! I would like any information possible. It has been a while since morning and in a few minutes, the gates should be opened for Alpha and Beta of The Moon Set Pack to be walking out to negotiate the terms of the war. That's how it goes. Yesterday even before it was time, I saw Aylee talk to her army through the crack of the gates. But today I didn't even find that. As far as I can see through the crack, there is nothing and no one. As if the pack is deserted. I turn around when I find all my army standing in rows according to ranks and they are ready to take my orders. I walk towards them and they are still sleepy. They have had a little too much enjoyment last night because the war hasn't started yet and they have no wounds that need healing. I overheard Sebastian saying two barrels full of wine were emptied last night and I don't know what to say. "Well, it looks like half of my army is drunk and a war might start at any moment," I say and they all look at the ground, in embarrassment. "I am not against you people drinking wine or anything that you like, but we are minutes away from the Alpha and Beta of The Moon Set Pack to walk out for negotiations. Well, what happens if they walk out and see that the entire enemy's camp is still sleeping?" I ask them again, shaking my head at them in slight disappointment. "Well, I promised your families that I would bring you all safe. If you continue to act like this then I don't think I can keep my promise anymore. You do know how my promise works, don't you?" I asked them and saw a sliver of fear in their eyes. The first time I made a promise was that I would challenge my father in a competition and he didn't live to see the result of it. That's a story for another day. The second time I made a promise was to the Alphas at the party that killed my mother, and everyone knew what happened. They are all in hell probably watching me and feeling so regretful that they even came across me. "Is there any spy willing to get into The Moon Set Pack?" I ask my army and they look at each other before they look at me again. All of this army and no spies? Just when I am about to give up, I see someone raise their hand. From the last row. The last rows are usually the archers because they don't march with the sword squad and often stand behind just to sneak and release arrows when no one is watching. I ask for them to come forward and I see he is a boy. A mere boy who might be fifteen years old and I look at Sebastian in explanation. "A very fine skilled archer from The Little Stone Pack. He joined the army right after you killed the Alpha and merged a part of his army with ours," Sebastian tells me and I nod in understanding. "You would go into the enemy pack and spy if I ask you to?" I ask him and he nods, being careful not to meet my eye. "I need words," I say and he stands straighter than before, I am afraid of his spine at this point. "Yes, Alpha. I am taught to dedicate my life to the ruling Alpha. And after killing Alpha Keith, you are my Alpha now. I would go to Hell or bring the Hell to you if you ask me to do, Alpha" he bows again and I look at Sebastian totally impressed. "Well, what if Alpha Aylee kills me?" I ask him and he doesn't even flinch as I say that, unlike many soldiers in the group. "I am afraid she would be my Alpha then, and I would do whatever she says," the boy says. I am even more impressed with his honesty. "What's your name?" I ask him. "Arya," he whispers and I nod. I tilt my head towards my tent and he looks at Sebastian before following me. Sebastian follows me into the tent as well. It's not really a secret anymore but I just want to be sure that another person shouldn't be overheating what I say. If I am ready to send spies, then there is a chance that Aylee has her spies in my army as well. After all, her brain works spectacularly. "Good. Arya, right after forty minutes. When Alpha Aylee or his Beta isn't out with the news then I need you to get into the pack and get me any news about Alpha Aylee. Even if you see her just chit chatting with someone or doing whatever.. right after when you see her is your cue to walk out. Do you understand?" I ask Arya and he nods. Arya then walks outside to stand alongside the other army. And Sebastian stops me from walking outside by grabbing my arm and I take a step back to talk to him. "What is with this?" He asks me again. It is now being so hard to not tell people that I am Alpha Aylee's mate. "And what is that?" Sebastian asks me again and I finally look at my hands. I am still holding Aylee's white dress that she wore yesterday. That's clearly torn. I don't know if this was because of someone or a random bush. I would like to think and hope it's the latter though. "Later," I say and place Aylee's dress on the small table beside my bed and walk out with Sebastian following me. Forty minutes is too much. What if she is not in her pack but somewhere else? And every minute passing could be dangerous if she is being held captive. I know I am risking it but this is a risk that I am willing to take. Come on. Walk out like nothing happened. Come on, Aylee! Please. Please walk out. Walk out with your Beta and tell me that nothing has happened to you. Please. Please. Please. . . . . . . Aylee's POV I am clearly lost. He is doing wonders with his lips on my neck and I cannot even open my eyes. I always knew he was so skilled at this and I keep my eyes closed because I don't want this to end. Even though I am risking that I'll be caught with Colton this way. "You know there are other things that make you feel good, not just kissing" Colton says and I know that there are so many things other than this. Things I never dared to know. "I know," I say and finally open my eyes to see Farrell's face instead of Colton. And I push him away. I close my eyes and open for a second to see Colton again. Am I too hung up on Farrell's drama or is my mind playing tricks for me to see his face instead of Colton's? "What's wrong? Are you okay?" Colton asks me and this time I hear Farrell's voice instead of Colton's. No doubt my mind is indeed playing tricks with me. "What? What's this?" I push Colton away even though he is taking another step closer to me. "Wake up, darling" Farrell says this time and even the face is of Farrell's. I don't know where Colton went away. "What do you mean?" I asked him again. "Wake up, Aylee!!!!" I hear a scream and this time it's not Farrell's or Colton's. It's Rowan's. Rowan is screaming. And just then, I feel someone violently shaking me. I open my eyes to see Rowan and he is sighing with relief. "Oh thank God you are awake," he whispers and pulls me up to hug me. Right then a sharp pain shoots up my right arm and I wince. Rowan pulls away quickly as he knows why I winced. He momentarily forgot about it so it's okay. Nothing big anyways. "I am sorry. I didn't -" "It's okay. What's wrong anyways?" I ask him as I look out through the window to see the sun already up and I might have slept for two or three hours I guess. Nothing more than that. "You were screaming in your dream. That's what your mother told me so I ran here. Turns out you were indeed screaming," he tells me. So it was a dream. Where the faces were confusing. One second it was Colton and the next second it was Farrell. But I didn't know why I screamed. Maybe something that I don't remember. I look at Rowan and he still looks worried. But I only tell him that everyday is alright and he can stay here until I get up so we can eat and walk out to talk with Alpha Farrell. My mom helps me with dressing again and I feel so pathetic right now. Maybe I should train myself with the left hand even though there is a reason why it is my weakest body part. Everyone knows but never says. Either out of respect to my mother or anger towards my father but no one says a word. Not that I ever cared. Just when Rowan and I walk out of my room and towards the dining table to have breakfast, Colton walks in. He looks like he has the least idea of the events that happened in my life for the last twelve hours. And it's alright that he doesn't know. It's actually better that he doesn't know anyways. I cannot explain to him again and again about little things. "There is something you should know, Alpha" he bows to me and Colton groans, as he walks alone to the dining table and I already smell tea, fresh bread and peaches. "What is it, Colton?" I ask him again and he takes a step forward. "It's about Alpha Farrell's army, I think they are ready to strike" he whispers and Rowan is behind me in an instant, as soon as he heard what Colton said. "What?" I ask him. According to the letter he wrote to Meghan, I thought he would be waiting until he gets the potion to strike me back. To show me that with a simple potion he has an upper hand over me. But why does he want to attack now? "That can't be," I whisper and walk outside and towards the borders to see if that's true or just another tactic of Alpha Farrell. It's actually a good thing that I am dressed in pants and a top that has full sleeves so no one would see the bandage that I have from my shoulder to the elbow of my right hand. No one should know. Not a single soul. Through the crack of the gates, I see Alpha Farrell standing right in front of his camp. And behind him is his army. Everyone standing in rows according to their ranks. The regular army way. Is he really ready to strike? "Rowan! Come with me," I say as I sign for the guards to lower the gates again. I turn around to Colton and he has the look of worry in his face, as he looks at Farrell from a distance. Colton told me that no one in the world scares him like Alpha Farrell does. Although I didn't see that side of it yet, I would still like to be safe. "Wait for my sign. You know what to do, right?" I ask him and he nods. "Be careful," Colton says and for the first time, he didn't care about our relationship being secret as he pulled me closer and gave me a brief hug. "Yeah. Yeah. Alpha Farrell and his army can wait," Rowan comments, making me roll my eyes and stand with him as the gates are now completely lowered. Rowan and I exchange looks as we both walk outside. My eyes land on Alpha Farrell who is now walking forward and I don't know if I am tripping or not, but I saw a sense of relief in his eyes and his body language as he is slowly walking towards me. "Don't let them know of your hand," Rowan whispers and I give a subtle nod as we are finally standing face to face. "Had a good night's sleep, Alpha Farrell?" I ask him and once again, he is so close to me that I see how black his eyes are. His hair as well. Just as black as his eyes. "Well, I guess one of us did," he is now smirking at me. His comment caught me off guard. It's either he is implying he got a good sleep or that he knows where I was or what I was doing. He isn't as foolish as I thought. He knew about the hot wolfsbane instantly and asked his witch friend to make a potion based on the lie that I made up. Or.. he can just be taunting with no hidden agenda but only to drag me down even for a second. Like now. "I don't know what you mean but your army though," I say and take a look behind him where everyone in that group is standing straight and ready to kill anyone in their way. And all it takes for them to do so, is one single hand raise from Alpha Farrell. "Looks like you are ready to strike," I say and I am already thinking of ways to buy time. At least until we get some allies to fight on our behalf. I thought the wolfsbane trick would work. It did work on everyone but not him. And I am running out of time. "Oh yes. I guess yesterday was a bit of a warm up and we are ready to conquer the last pack on the continent and then head home," Alpha Farrell says again. He conquered every pack in the continent? Is that why I haven't received any help even after calling out all the bargains with all the other Alphas and Lunas? No wonder he is now being given the title of a Royal. But that also doesn't mean I am letting him take my pack easily. He will have to fight with me. Mentally or physically. There is no way I am going down without a fight. "Well then -" "But," Alpha Farrell cuts me off and I stop talking and stare at him. Please tell me there is still time. Please tell me there is no war soon. Please let me have some time. "I am actually waiting for something. So maybe the war starts after that. Until then we don't mind camping here. Do you mind, though?" Alpha Farrell asks me again, and even though I am partially glad, I don't let it show. Of course. Of course he will wait for the potion to arrive. Only then he will have the upper hand like he thought. "Why? Is there something you need?" Rowan asks, clearly unaware that I hijacked Farrell's letters and that I know why he is waiting. "Yes. Canons actually. Since you won't even let us see what's inside those walls, I think blowing them up is the only way" Alpha Farrell says and for a second even Sebastian looked stunned but then got back to his straight face again. Was that a lie? Or was Sebastian not expecting Alpha Farrell to tell out his plan this publicly? I look at Alpha Farrell again and he doesn't even let his emotions show. I just nod and turn around, ready to get into my pack and hold a meeting to discuss how we are getting through this. "Alpha Aylee?" Farrell calls me and I turn around again, to see him extend his hand at me. "What?" I ask him even though I know he is expecting a handshake, now that we mutually agreed the war is not going to happen in the next two days. I carefully give him my right hand even though the bandage is making it hard for me to completely extend my hand. When Alpha Farrell holds my hand and firmly shakes it, that's when I feel another shot of pain and I wince a little. He clearly noticed it and I pulled my hand away in an instant. "We must get back, Alpha" Rowan says as he knows the situation with my right hand. "Yes. Yes. Apparently I ordered my army to march and kill you all if I didn't return in thirty minutes," I smirk at Alpha Farrell trying my best to act nice and fine but the pain is becoming a little too much. I guess the firm shake tore the poor bandages. Rowan wasn't a doctor or a nurse so he just managed it on his own accords. Alpha Farrell doesn't say anything, as he just nods. I nod at him back and take that as a cue to walk back to the borders. "Colton. Get the chiefs of each of the army sectors and meet me in my office an hour from now," I order Colton as an Alpha and he bows to me, as soon as he understands that. "Rowan, I hope you know what to do" I tell him and I walk towards my home in an urgency. Once I reach my room, that's when I start crying again. Mom helps me with removing my top and I see the bandage was indeed torn and there was blood oozing. Just a bit. I hope Rowan is getting a nurse at least. If Alpha Farrell knows this, then my pack will be dead for sure.
