Chapter 17

682 Words
Farrell's POV When I heard that Alpha Louis's pack, The Gray Moon Pack, is the largest, I didn't really picture it to be this vast. I am standing here at the borders and even from here it is unlike anything I had ever seen. The silver gates are being opened for me. The gates are far smaller compared to the ones surrounding my pack. Because it was a measure that was meant to keep me safe. People are bowing to me as I move forward, mounted on my horse. They don't meet my eye. Sebastian and my entire army from The Nightfall Pack are following me closely behind. At the heart of the pack, is the Pack house. Alpha Louis's wife is already standing at the steps with her son. Both dressed in black. I don't know if it's because they are protesting or mourning. I get down my horse and walk towards them. The kid has his eyes fixated on me, and he looks like he wants to kill me right here and right now. So I kneel down before him. He didn't have to see his father getting killed by me. He is just four years old. And I was the one on the wrong end this time. "I am sorry for your loss," I say and he is still glaring at me. "My mother told me that my father killed your mother," he whispers at me and I just nod. "If you killed him because he killed your mother, then what is the difference between you and him?" He asks me back and I look at his mother who is trying to shush him. Werewolf kids really do grow at an alarming rate until they reach the age twelve years. They are faster, stronger and sharper than human kids. That's why we don't really mingle with humans. We would be detected easily because of the way we are built up since beginning. "You'd know when you grow older," I tell him and turn around to face the crowd. "I am Farrell of The Nightfall Pack, and now your Alpha," I tell them and I watch them all fall on their one knee. "I am not going to go ahead and say that I am going to treat you like my family. Because you are not," I say and they all look at me. Sebastian is just suppressing his smile at this point. "I am here to conquer the werewolf world. So I am not going to stop just here, after killing Alpha Louis. I have a long way to go, but in my absence your Beta-" I stop mid sentence and scan the crowd for the beta. He stands up and bows to me before walking towards me. "Darren," he whispers and I nod. "Darren will take care of you. And he will write me the reports himself. One missing report or misleading information is going to cost him his head and you, your lives" I say and watch them all gulp. "Am I clear?" I ask them and they all nod as they show their necks in submission. "And you.. kid," I turned around to see him already staring at me. Probably at the way I was talking to the pack members. Because I bet his father might have not talked this way. "This is life. And this is how things are done. You shouldn't have seen what you saw. So I apologize for that. But never ask me questions like what makes a difference. Because I don't give a damn about it," I say and nod at the former Luna as I mount on my horse again. "That was a nice show out there," Sebastian says as we reach the borders again. We just don't want to waste time at this point. "That wasn't a show. That's how things are going to be" Because with my mother gone, I feel the darkness inside me growing at an alarming rate. I don't know how to stop it. And keeping people away from me is going to help, perhaps.
