Farrell's POV
It is her birthday today. I don't know what to gift her. I don't know what she would appreciate. I don't know if my army is going to take it well if I gift her something.
Sebastian already suspects there is something between me and Aylee. And if I do something like gifting her on her birthday, then everyone is going to jump to conclusions without even thinking for a second.
I walk out of my tent, to see the beautiful sunrise. The air is chillier than before. With the monsoon approaching, I should do something about the situation I am in with Aylee, and get back to my pack.
I need to keep the weather conditions in mind before I let my army go through worse. If I need to win, I need them. I can fight with any army but that doesn't give me any sort of protection for me to be alive.
There were times I didn't want to live. I thought dying on the battlefield happy, was the best thing to do. That was all until I actually met Aylee.
Just knowing that she is my mate, changed so many things. The way she gives me competition. The way she is kind hearted. She didn't even think twice before letting Arya stay with her. She understands the situation and doesn't discriminate between the enemy pack or hers. That made me fall in love with her even more.
My eyes fall on the silver gates of her pack. There are no guards surrounding it.
"A group of The Moon Set Pack guards applied the potion again, last night" Sebastian tells me when he noticed me staring at the gates.
I nod. Too bad he doesn't know that it's a layer of hot wolfsbane that stays warm for a few days once applied on silver. Aylee is for sure a genius.
She even got a hold of the messenger who takes letters from here to Meghan. I receive Meghan's letters well and fine but mine never reach her.
Maybe I can play with it for a while. See what she thinks of me. And maybe make her feel uncomfortable with weird truths that don't even make sense. I laugh just thinking of that and my wolf lets out a grunt saying he needs to see his mate but I don't think we can do that without a reason.
A messenger hurriedly runs towards us and he searches for me until his eyes land on me. He gives the envelope only to my hand telling me that Meghan asked him to give it only to me. Sebastian and I exchange glances before walking into my tent again. If it's from Meghan and she wanted to give it to either me or Sebastian, then that must be important.

Farrell,
I need you to know something before you take a serious move against Alpha Aylee. I think there is more than what she is leading on. She came to the party only to leave in ten minutes. The only person she was seen talking to was Alpha Louis. She didn't even listen to you when she drove to her pack away.
I think you should look into it before you make a decision. Because I feel it in my bones, that there was something stronger behind her decision to leave the party.
I might be wrong and I really do hope Mother Earth that I am wrong. What if I am not wrong? I don't want to take risks and especially not when it involves you, your life and this pack. Lives are at stake.
Sebastian, if you find this letter instead of Farrell then make sure you know much about Aylee.
Be safe, you guys.
You are the only family that I have.

I look at Sebastian and he is already thinking about it. He read the letter along with me so there could be a reason he might be thinking it's true as well.
But I have a slightly different theory that they don't know of yet. Maybe Aylee felt different about me when she saw me. Because mate bond can do things you cannot even imagine.
What if she saw something different about me? I bet she was warned about me and not to get closer to me even though I was the one who was hosting the party. So as soon as she felt weird in my presence, she just decided to leave.
Sometimes I see it in her face. She gets affected when I smirk at her. I also remember one incident where she was standing on something on the other side of her border gates, and I winked at her. She fell down from the thing that she was standing on and I still smile recalling that. So no wonder all she wanted was to leave.
"I think we need to take this seriously, Farrell," Sebastian says and I think for a minute. How do I tell him that she is my mate and that's why she might have behaved weirdly?
"I think we need to give Aylee the benefit of doubt too. Remember even Meghan says she could be wrong," I tell Sebastian but he doesn't look that convinced.
"She is dangerous, Farrell. We don't even know what she is hiding in her pack. She wouldn't even lift the gates up. We need to do something before you lose the war. This is the only pack you didn't conquer till now. Don't let other Alphas believe that they can fight you too, just because a girl did it," Sebastian says.
So many words that he spoke, triggered me but I maintain my calm. She is just not some girl fighting me with all her might. I am letting her fight against me. I didn't even come across an opponent like her. Someone who wouldn't let go of their pack and accept defeat just because an Alpha who is much more powerful asked her to.
"At least she is good at putting up a fight, Sebastian. Let her," I tell him and he looks like something is utterly wrong with me. Well, he might partially be right too.
"I want to know her before I strike my move. Like you said, what am I supposed to see what she is doing in her pack when the gates are always up?" I ask him back.
"Go ahead and tell me if you have a plan," I tell him and he shrugs.
"Maybe bring the canons like you said. And smash the gates up so they will have nothing else left shielding them," Sebastian says again.
I know that if I say something otherwise now, he will be so sure that something is wrong with me. Even though he is a Beta, he still needs my permission to do certain things.
For now, I need to let him believe that I am doing my best to conquer the pack. When in all honesty, it's not what I want.
I want to conquer the girl who's ruling the pack.
"Send a messenger and ask Meghan to send two canons our way," I tell Sebastian and he nods walking away.
Just when I am about to walk away, a different messenger comes again with a different envelope this time. f**k this s**t man. Why is everything so important to everyone today? All I want to do right now is see Aylee once and wish her a happy f*****g birthday.
But the seal on the envelope makes it clear that it's from the board of supernaturals. Full moon is the day after tomorrow. That means the introductory gathering is the same day. Maybe this letter is to remind me about it.

Greetings, Alpha Farrell of The Nightfall Pack. We, the members of the board of supernaturals, hope this letter finds you well.
We came to know that your conquering took a break, and that you never reached back to your pack. But still, there is only one more pack left for you to conquer. Wouldn't be an issue with our help.
And the introductory gathering is going to be held at the no man's land closer to the Moon Set Pack. That way you wouldn't have to travel far from your target and you can directly borrow our forces to take down the last pack. Once it's down, you will be the King of the werewolves.
Looking forward to meeting you soon.

I fold the paper and keep it on the stack of letters I received so far. No man's land closer to The Moon Set Pack.
"Maybe we should ask Alpha Aylee for directions," Lyon tells me and I smirk at what he is implying.
"Yes. We need to talk to Alpha Aylee. Only she is the one, who's going to give us proper directions about this highly confidential matter," I tell my wolf back and walk out of the tent again.
Sebastian is barking an order to the messenger, I think to give the letter only to Meghan. Canons are actually a huge issue and no pack has canons except mine. So yes, it is dangerous if other people know the information.
"Where are you heading to?" Sebastian asks me, once the messenger left off and this man is slowly starting to get on my nerves.
"Last time I checked, I wasn't the one who's answerable to you," I raised my eyebrow at Sebastian that made him frown a little but he still nodded.
I know that he is having this weird knack to just end this war, win and go home but I don't know why he wants to get back home this quick. It's not like we both have a family waiting for us. Unless he has someone waiting for him.
"Do you love someone?" I randomly ask Sebastian and his eyes go wide, before he scoffs.
"I ask you where you are going and you attack me personally? Woah, man" Sebastian throws his arms in the air as in surrender and walks away.
Since when did he start being this dramatic?
I walk towards the borders of The Moon Set Pack. And I smell the scent of hot raw wolfsbane clearly now. Maybe I should joke and see if Aylee has a witty comeback for it.
"I don't have any weapons. And I am here to talk to your Alpha," I tell the man who is looking at me through the cracks of the gates.
At first I thought the cracks were there because the gates are old. But now I am realizing that it's because they need a crack to look at the outside world even though the gates are up.
There is utter silence on the other end until the small portion of a gate is lifted up. And as usual, before I get to see anything Aylee walks out. She is dressed in a lilac dress that is reaching just below her knees. Her fair hair is flowy and dancing to the wind. She is an absolute Goddess!
"Happy Birthday," I say and she looks at me shocked.
"Wow. So much for being so secretive and asking only for directions, huh" Lyon teases me and I roll my eyes.
Why did I even wish her so casually?
"Thanks. How did you know?" She asks me back and I just shrug.
"Did my ground work before striking this pack. I like knowing my enemies before going into war with them," I come up with something and she nods in understanding.
I guess it's the dress she is wearing, but a part of her bandage on her arm is showing a little. She followed my gaze and noticed it, pulling her sleeve down covering the bandage.
"I got it from combat training yesterday," Aylee whispers.
But Lyon is already roaring in my mind. I take a step closer to her and she looks terrified a little, because I am fighting with my wolf who is trying to take control. My eyes might be flickering and jumping between two different colors. But I bet she knows and understands.
"Who hurt you?" I ask her, especially after noticing another man's scent on her.
The way she is struggling with words confirms it even more. And I am totally resisting the urge to unleash my wolf. Because Lyon wouldn't handle this the decent way. He would break through these silver gates, totally unfazed and grab the man based on his scent. The rest, I would leave it to imagination.
"What?" She asks me as she blinks at me, in pure horror.
I close my eyes for a second, convincing my wolf that I would give him the control if I come to know things are going to go out of hand. And he listens to me for one time at least before settling in the back of my mind.
"Aylee," I whisper and take another step closer to her,"who hurt you?"
"No one. And I don't think it's your place to know even if someone did," Aylee answers.
"If no one hurt you and it's from a combat, then good," I say and take a step backwards before she considers me a crazy psycho who is hovering over her asking something that never happened.
She looks a little relieved once I stand at a good two feet distance from her.
"And what if someone did?" She challenges me or maybe she just wants to know why I asked.
"If someone did hurt you, then I promise you even these silver gates wouldn't be able to stop my wolf. Lyon is a beast, and I am warning you" I tell her.
Aylee gulps and I see her throat bob a little. I know I came here to talk to her but I just went crazy just with the thought that someone might have hurt her. If they did, they wouldn't live to see another day.
"Why are you here? What did you want to talk about?" Aylee asks me and I jump back into reality again.
"Yes. The scent of raw hot wolfsbane is making my army go crazy. Do you know where it is, by any chance?" I ask her and her face falls straight as she looks at me. And now, I am resisting the urge to smirk at her.
"Oh that, you ask? We are heating up raw wolfsbane and transferring them into bottles. An arrow dipped in it sounds great to be hitting the enemies with, don't you think?" Aylee asks me, as she smirks at me.
Smart one.
"Indeed sounds great. But I know something that sounds even crazier," I say and she looks at me this time, confused a little.
"I sent a letter already to my pack, asking for two canons and they should be here in three days since they are heavy things. It sounds crazier than even hot raw wolfsbane won't work on canons, right?" I ask her back in the same tone as she asked me earlier.
Now I am the one smirking while Aylee just glares at me. She might be calling me an Asshole in her mind. Or she might be imagining how it would feel like to murder me with her own hands. But I am really enjoying this.
"So is this you coming all the way here to tell me about the war you are waging with your canons?" She asks and I shrug.
"What way do I have to go if I want to reach the no man's land?" I ask her and I see she clenches her jaw, at the way I am so casually asking her for directions when just a minute ago I was threatening her and her entire pack with the excuse of Canons.
"You take straight in the direction of your war camp. You'll eventually find it because it's straight from there," Aylee says.
Again, smart ass. Because I already let my wolf run in that direction and that was what led me to the pond I found her crying at.
"Thanks," I say even though she just gave me the wrong direction.
"Is there anything else left for you to say or know?" Aylee asks, tapping her foot on the ground. She seems impatient and she just wants to get inside already. Can't wait for the day she gets her wolf and recognises me as her mate. I bet she wouldn't be this excited to walk away from me.
"Yes. There is something you should know," I tell her and she looks a tad bit curious at this.
I take in a good look at her, because I know she wouldn't be wearing dresses and have fun unless it's her birthday. She would go back to wearing tunics and trousers because that's what she feels the most comfortable in.
"What?" She asks, slightly uncomfortable under my gaze. I should keep in mind not to scare her like this.
"Red suits you better than lilac," I say pointing to her dress and she huffs, rolling her eyes. I smirk at her that makes her even more irritated than she already is.
She flips me off, turning around leaving me chuckling a little. But I did not miss her whispering "asshole" under her breath just when she was about to walk into her pack again.
Two more days for her first shift. And she would be mine. I can't wait!
