Chapter 2: Flame of revenge

"Don't pull the blanket."

I said, but Hanayuki who is beside me keeps on pulling the blanket.

"But it's too cold... Why the heck you rented this kind of inn in the first place." She's just sleeping here overnight and she's starting to complain. I'm started to suspect that this girl will be a pain in the ass in the future.

I pull some blanket, making Hanayuki roll. 

"You’re really selfish Ren, did you know the saying 'Spoiled the woman.'"

"What kind of saying is that? I never heard about it... If that saying is true then became a woman first." I said as I stare at her tiny little body. Hanayuki started to have an angry expression and lay down beside me.

Looks like Hanayuki learns her lesson... I thought.

Hanayuki goes inside the blanket and hugs me tight from my back.

"Eehhh!"

I'm surprised by her action making my face a bit red. "Wh-What are you doing?" 

I asked. 

"I'm hugging you it's obvious." 

Hanayuki replied and continue to hug me tightly.

"I know it's obvious but why you’re doing that."

"Are you an i***t or stupid that pretending to be smart? I'm doing this because it's so cold and your body is quite warm." 

She said.

She is right about why I'm complaining about this. I turn my gaze toward her. Looking at her I started to think that she's a very cute girl. Slo I can scent a bit of her sweet fragrance. Is that her shampoo?

"Why you’re staring at me? Starting to see me as a woman?" 

She said with a confident voice. 

"Of course not... Let's just sleep today and plan out everything tomorrow." 

I turn my head on the opposite side and close my eyes. Hanayuki who is hugging me from my back makes a smile of relief.

The next day.

The roosters started to make noise.

"That was great fried chicken over there." Said Hanayuki while sleeping.

I'm staring at her while she sleeps with a disappointed expression. This girl tells me that we will take down the evil leader of this town, but looking at her attitude I don't know if she will succeed or not.

"Hey wake up it's already morning. Hanayuki! Hanayuki!" I wake her up by slapping her face. "What's the deal that hurt's?!"

"I'm just trying to wake you up."

"Then do it properly."

She stretches her arm and makes a big yawn.

"Let's go."

Hanayuki stands up from the bed and follows me.

"Ren Ren..."

"What is it?"

"Ren Ren..."

"What?"

"It's nothing I just feel like calling you..."

Don't bother people if you don't need anything.

"... It's been a while since I called a friend by the first name."

Said Hanayuki and overtake me while walking and turn around in front of me. "Ren, what's for breakfast?" She asked.

I smiled and reply: "It's fried chicken."

Hanayuki cheerfully jump like a kid and became so excited about simple food like fried chicken.

"You’re so simple."

"Ren Ren let's go to the restaurant already." We entered the bar owned by Yuri's family.

"Good morning!"

"It's Ren."

Yuri and her mother welcome us.

"Ren the meal that you asked me to make is already done."

Hanayuki turns her eyes to the table and saw a plate with fried chicken. "Ren who did you know that I like fried chicken?" Asked Hanayuki in curiousness.

Last night while sleeping, you keep on saying fried chicken.

"I just knew about last night."

"I see, and then let's munch this meal down." Said Hanayuki.

After eating breakfast Hanayuki drags me to a place that I have never been visiting yet in the town.

"Hey, why did you drag me in this kind of place?"

The place looks like a dump yard and full of trash.

"Huh?"

"Look!"

"It's Hanayuki!"

Some kids saw Hanayuki and started running toward her.

"Hey hey Hanayuki, where have you been?"

"It's lonely when you're not here."

"We are waiting for you last night."

Said the kids.

"I'm sorry, yesterday is a tough day and I need to stay in another house... I'm really sorry."

Said Hanayuki.

"Big sister Hanayuki, who is that lame-looking guy?"

"You're not dating a lame guy like him right?"

"At the top of that, he looks so weak."

Said the kids.

Hearing their comment toward me makes me feel a little bit angry. I need to control myself, they are kids after all.

"That weird lame weak boring guy over there is Ren, he's the one who helps me yesterday." Said Hanayuki.

I started to feel that I'm really a weird lame weak boring guy, like what kids are saying about me. I walked close to Hanayuki and asked her.

"Why you drag me here and who are those kids anyway?"

"Big sister Hanayuki let's play soccer."

"Yeah, I will play later..."

Hanayuki and I sat down under the big tree and started talking about things.

"This place is the slumps and the weak people gathered here... They are the people that I want to help."

"Want to help?"

"Yes, I want to help them... I remember three months ago when I came to this town. This town is wonderful and people living in this town tend to help each other. The poor and the rich back then are still not divided. This place is a peaceful place that everyone wants to live until that man came here."

"I see, things have changed," I said.

"Things change into the worse scenario... The poor people who can pay the tax are thrown into these slumps, without great reasons... That man is ruing this place to worse making poor people suffer for being poor."

"You totally love this place don't you?"

"Huh? Well, I love this place so much."

Everything is now clear to me, she just wants to help these victims all along.

"Then it's settled, we will kick that man ass by revealing his dark plans."

I said as I stand up and catch the soccer ball.

"Kick the ball here, big bro."

"You got it."

I kicked the ball toward the kids and started playing with them.

Hanayuki who is sitting under the tree smiled and join. "That's unfair, let me join in the game."

She said.

After playing with kids in daylight. Hanayuki and I, the process of our plan to take down the evil man or the mayor of the City of Stella.

"Gold Wynn That's a weird name for a porky mayor."

I said.

"I see, you're tongue is quite a sharp Ren... But, indeed, the pig in the poster is the mayor. before he came here and became a mayor. I got, a tip from a friend of mine that he is a criminal... the reason he wins the election is that his opponent was killed and many people are been threaten." Said Hanayuki

"That's a cowardly way to win."

"See! That's what I'm talking about and that mayor also makes people pay unnecessary taxes. I will bring him down and put his ass in prison."

Hanayuki's eyes were burning in passion and looking at those I think I need to work hard too.

We are currently in the central park of Stella City and there we look in routes and way's to break through the mayor's mansion.

Hanayuki planned to break through and knock the mayor out. Tie him and make him admit his crime. That's was a really simple plan, but in my case things are different. But Hanayuki and I were different. The reason I came to this place was different.

"Ren Ren What's with those eyes you're scaring me." Said Hanayuki.

"Sorry, I just have a habit of glaring. Don't worry about it and tomorrow might be a good day." I said and calm myself.

"That's right, the mansion is surrounded by his guards and I think even I use my magic. I can't breakthrough."

"Magic? You can use magic."

"Yep, but that's a secret. Amazingly, it will surprise you." She said with a high-stacked attitude.

"Yeah yeah say what you wanted."

"One more thing Ren... Can I sleep in your Inn again? I'm broke and I can't go to the orphanage because of the guard in the evening."

She really is bothersome.

After that Hanayuki and I go back to Yuri's Inn.

The moon was beautiful and remembering this big full moon. I remember the day things burn into ashes. "Hikari..." A small picture worn-out picture in my hand. Looking to Hikari's smile. I put the picture and kissed it praying. "Tonight guide me..." Preparing myself I leave the Inn past midnight.

Using the route Hanayuki draw earlier to escape if something happened to her plan. I easily sneak to the roof of the mansion. There are still many guards and women inside.

That time in the mayor's mansion there was a party with many visitors. Since I saw the picture of the mayor I immediately pointed him out.

"Looks like his, not a pig in mind but also appearance."

While looking in the window. I saw, that a very girl is about to sit down near the mayor. The girl is having a scared worried face.

"Come here I will treat you gently." Said the mayor with discussing face. The woman is pointed by a gun in her back. Having no choice the woman is forced to sit down and have a drink with the mayor.

A few moments later, the mayor stands up with the girl. "I think it's time. You know it, the thing we're going to do in my room."

A depressed expression is down on the woman's face. She was forced to go with the mayor to his room.

Looking at this situation.

This might be a good chance.

The guard let the Mayor and the woman inside the room to not bother them.

"Lucia-chan let's go and start making babies."

Lucia the woman brought there by force is thrown to the large bed. Before the Mayor jumps toward her in his discussing naked form.

I used my skill called room lock. Now in this room, nothing can be heard. The sound from outside will never be heard inside and the sound from inside will never be heard outside.

Before he landed on the woman.

I kicked his face in all of my forces. Making his think mouth bleed with blood.

"Gah... Who are you and how..." The mayor make a step back and take a good look at me.

"You’re not allowed to speak!!"

I kicked him once again.

Since we are inside the room lock. No one can sense my magic. It's very safe to torture this man here. The only one who can see me doing this is the woman in the bed. Lucia is frightened, as she watches me continuously kick the pig bastard.

With my doing, the mayor's face is unrecognizable. "What do you want? I will give you anything? Just don't kill me." Mayor begs.

"Anything? If that's the case then bring the life of Hikari back."

"Hikari? Who is that?"

That enrages me more and pulled my sword using my magic. I cut his arms and legs.

"What are you? You can't even remember the name of the people killed b the group... I know, you're a previous park of Red robe terrorist and that's the sole reason I came to the city. I will question you until I'm satisfied and get my revenge on that bastard who gave this sword to me" I said with a deep angered voice.

"Th-That sword it's the general's sword."

He identified the sword I'm holding. the sword is previously owned by their general and this sword is used to be one of his treasures. Seeing this sword the Mayor shouted and tried to run away. using the window.

"He's right, the one having the sword is about to hunt me... He's right, all this time... Somebody helps me... Lucia help! I will give you everything... Just help me!" Said desperately.

Seeing the Mayors face. without a second thought. She kicked his face and said: "There's no way I will save you go to hell. Mister swordsman kill that creature already."

"You're a pushy woman... Now mister pig, would you mind telling me the location of this general."

Much depressing expression is drawn to his face. the mayor's hair started to fall as he thinks of the general. The general is insanely powerful. I saw that on that fiery night. With just a flick of his hand, the whole village turned into ashes. Those people struggling to survive were killed by his men.

They killed Hikari the girl I want to protect for a long time and the reason I look forward to the future.

My very precious friend.

"I... I... I can't tell you he's going to burn me if I tell you. please spare me." Begging for his life the mayor cried. The straight in my grip grows stronger. Menacing expression of mine glares toward the mayor.

"If you hate burning then, I guess I will burn you."

The blade of the sword started to burst with flames and as I slashed his body. The flames started crawling to the mayor's body.

"Ahhhhhhhh!"

Screaming in pain the mayor can't do anything.

The flame of my sword. The flame that eats burns everything from me. This is the perfect revenge with my flame I will burn everyone that destroys my hometown.

I burn the Mayor with my flame.

I help Lucia get out of the mansion with me using the window as the exit and going straight to the park in the center of the city.

"My room lock spell is still working it will be a long time before they discovered that someone is dying inside that room. Miss, you can go now because you're free."

I said and throw some gold coins at her.

It's the money I saw inside the mayor's room. I take it and give it to this girl. because I think she deserves it.

"Thank you, mister swordsman."

Lucia leaves.

I calmly walked toward Yuri's Inn and in front of the Inn's door. A girl with light brown hair is waiting.

"Take this! Lightning punch!"

The punch was so fast I can't see it. It hit's me right to my face.

"Ren you're an i***t! I was planning on putting him in jail. Killing him is not an answer." Hanayuki started scolding me and continue. "I was at the last minute and saw that mayor burning. that's so brutal. I can feel that you're kind Ren. I can feel it... But why things must go like this."

"It's because I'm an Assassin with a single mission. I will go and kill every last member of Red robe terrorists and take my revenge. Those evil people need to die so that this world will become a better place."

I said and get up.

"Revenge? What does that mean?" Hanayuki said.

I was stunned, but make a come back.

“Revenge is my purpose in life… You are just an outsider, you don’t have any right to say anything. This is my revenge for my childhood friend and to the town that is burned in the fiery night.”

Hanayuki looks into my eyes and said.

“You got it? You're revenge, aren't you happy?”

“No.”

“You brutally kill that man with your flame. Do you enjoy burning people with your flame?”

“No.”

“Or perhaps, you think that your friend and life before will come back once you kill them all.”

“No!”

I shouted in response.

“Then, what is the meaning behind all this killing. I see you’re an assassin. Then your hand is tainted with the blood of countless people. Then you’re just the same… A murderer.”

I snapped out after Hanayuki said those words and pulled my sword trying to make her fear me. But Hanayuki even after pointing my sword to her throat. Calmly look to my eyes with pity.

Looking into her eyes, I turned my glance away and walk.

“Where are you going?”

“Not you’re business.”

At that moment, under the deep silent starry night.

Hanayuki became silent and look at my back with sad eyes.

“Sad and lonely, this is Ren’s world.”

And on that starry night, I left Stella city.
