Chapter 6Lauren eased herself out of her saddle and wondered if the insides of her legs were ever going to recover. They’d ridden straight through the morning, crossing the full breadth of the ranch. The character of the ground had changed as they neared the mountains, but Patrick led the way with the surety of someone who’d come this way many times before. What had started as cantering across the broad grasslands of the lower ranch had turned into carefully picked out routes along the base of scree slopes and following winding deer paths through deep forests.
