“Is that brooch new?” Isobel asked, noticing the copper brooch pinned to the bodice of Katherine’s simple dress. The metal flowers and leaves formed a curving line, and though it held no jewels or pearls, the brooch had a simple elegance that Isobel preferred over the lavish and overstated jewelry that Lycans preferred.  “It’s a family heirloom. My mother gave it to me before I left London,” Katherine explained, looking down at it. “It’s beautiful,” Isobel replied. “I was saving it for a special occasion,” Katherine added with a growing smile. “I’d say that today fits into that category,” Isobel said with a chuckle. “Are you certain you don’t want to wear one of my dresses?” she asked Katherine.
