Marley was chewing on the end of her fingernail when something hard hit her on the side of the head. She jumped, rubbing her temple, "Ow!"
"I called your name, like, eight times!" Tristan shook her head disapprovingly, dropping a chocolate covered almond back on her plate.
Gabby, who was sitting next to Marley, nudged her shoulder, "You okay?" She whispered, her green eyes studying her carefully.
If there's anyone who could see right through her, it's Gabby. They've known each other since they were kids, and can tell when the other is lying or trying to bullshit.
"I'm fine." Marley gave her a warning look paired with a tight smile.
