Chapter 4

It has been a long time now to me….. or should I say that I felt as if it has been more than a long time. My wife left me in this cruel world, to take care of our daughter on my own. With the help of my housemaid, I was able to take good care of her, but my little angel was now suddenly turning into my worst nightmare. The little kid won't allow me to close my eyes for just a second. Staring at the little fragile baby……. I felt like blaming her, because if she was just so cooperative, then Merritt won't have been dead right now. Today makes it nine days…… since my wife is no longer with me. I have been crying all day, and whenever the sun kisses the sky….. I cry. 'Wah!'. The sound of the crying troublesome baby was heard. 'I can't take it……. I really can't take it anymore!'. I chanted to myself, before carrying the baby in my arms. I know that I'm currently going to be named a bad father, but all that I need right now is for this baby to disappear away from my presence. Driving my small white Camry car….. I started searching around the big city, for I'm currently looking for an orphanage home. Life without Merritt is useless, and life with Harper is going to be more miserable. Franklin continued to drive around the city for hours until it suddenly started to rain. And finally, when or was some minutes past eight o'clock in the evening…….. Franklin steps out of his car while carrying Harper in a basket. The child has been crying all through the time that he was driving, and Franklin made sure that he doesn't feel sorry for her. His life hurts him like hell, and removing bad memories is the best idea for him, which is one of the reasons why he doesn't want Harper anymore. She's his flesh and his blood……. But having to feel for that is impossible. According to doctors who have come to my Mansion countless times…….. they have all proclaimed that my daughter is fine….. but she doesn't look fine. No normal child would have two different strange colors of eyes, for it's impossible. Her eye, which is located to the right is gold, while the other one is purely hazel eyes…… as it continues to change frequently. The child looks healthy, but she cries more than any ordinary kid. Her cry sounds like that of a monster…… and not that I take my baby for a monster, but everything that she possesses seems scary. If Merritt was here, then I know that I and she could both sort this out, but Merritt is dead…… and so is my love for this creature. I glance at Harper for the last time……. Before shaking my head sideways. "I won't miss you Harper…… for you have to stay at a place that suits you perfectly". I said to the small kid, who couldn't even hear what I'm currently saying. Inhaling and exhaling one last time……. I placed the child on the floor, before pressing the doorbell of the large gate. I didn't wait for anyone to come out, before driving away. It was raining heavily, and I was Damn cold. The cloud was also dark, and lightning struck all over the sky. I had to know if someone would come out to pick Harper up, so I stopped my car, and hid somewhere far away from the orphanage. I waited for two good hours……. Yet no one showed up. As much as he hates to believe that this child is cursed……. I still find myself praying for someone to take the child in. She's just nine days old, and she has been in the rain for two hours. I sighed, before turning around to make my way back to my car. I drove off with a smirk on my face because I can now kill myself in peace. Meanwhile, when it was exactly three hours…….the security guard suddenly opened the gate of the orphanage, because he was expected to guard and inspect the environment…… before midnight. "O my God!..... What is a precious diamond like you doing over here?". The security guard asks little Harper, as he picks the child up. She was cold….. Damm was cold, but she was still breathing, and her eyes were both shut. The security guard looked around, to see if he could see the parents of the kid, but didn't see anyone. He took Merritt inside the orphanage home and gave her to the head staff. "I saw this fragile creature outside!". The security guard said. The orphanage home used to have a lot of nurses during day time but at night……. Only two nurses stay, just in case of emergency, and they usually have shifted. The head staff, who's more like the lady that runs the orphanage called out the two nurses, and they immediately started to tend to the child right away. The child was breathing, so that was a good start, but she hadn't opened her eyes yet. One of the nurses whose name is Nelly changed the cloth of the baby, while the other nurse gave Harper some injection and some baby medicine. "She's going to be alright!". The head staff said while reassuring the nurses. They were all about to leave the child in the ward, but then they heard the loud cry of the baby. 'Thank God!. She's finally awake!'. They all chorus, before running towards the child. The first thing that they saw was a pair of golden eyes and greenish hazel eyes. "Arrrghhh!". They all screamed, except nurse Nelly. Because they were terrified of her eyes. Little Harper also screamed out loud, before closing her eyes. "Huh…… why did she stop crying all of a sudden?". Nelly asked no one in particular. Closing the distance between the child and them…… they all became more than terrified because the baby looks so plain. Raising the little kid up……. They shut their eyes wide open. "SHE'S DEAD!!". Nelly screamed, as goosebumps suddenly filled her entire body. *Meanwhile* A guy was also staring at his window while allowing the darkness of his room to swallow him whole. "She's dead Lucas….. so go and prepare for the sacrifice". Prince Orlan Titan said coldly.
