TARA
"Let him in, dear. He's the Plumber I was talking about," Mother said, surprising me even more.
Honestly, I never thought someone like him would turn out to be the plumber we were expecting. His appearance looks nothing like the ones I've seen in the city.
"Okay mother. Please come..." Before I could invite our guest, he walked into the house like he lives here.
"Um okay?" I carefully shut the door, finding his behavior strange.
Turning around, I found him heading for the corridor without looking at my mother in-law. He just walked into the kitchen silently, with his stomps sounding loud.
"What's up with him?" I muttered, displeased with the attitude he was giving.
Mother, who didn't seem bothered about our guests demeanor, suggested I follow him. "Show him the pipes you talked about."
"Okay," I nodded, walking into the corridor.
Peeping into the kitchen, I found Theodore checking the sink and pipes underneath it. He didn't have any tool on him, and that made me wonder how he plans on fixing it.
Stepping closer, the plumber got to his feet and checked the sink again. Nothing came out of it.
When he turned around, he met me in his way and gave me that same face expression from earlier.
I saw this and carefully stepped out of his way. "Sorry," I apologized. But someone didn't care at all. He just walked out of the kitchen, muttering something.
Since mother said I should tag along, I followed the plumber around, until we arrived at my bathroom where I spotted the damaged pipes.
I pointed at it and said, "I think we'll be needing a change of pipe for this one."
"Are you a plumber?" He questioned, glaring at me rudely!
My mouth dropped at this man's attitude towards me. What's up with him?
"I'm not. I just pointed out what I thought we..."
"Let me do my work," He shunned me!
Goodness! I stood there feeling hot from within. This man's behavior made me... Angry!
He soon left my room and came down to the basement to check the main tube. As he was attending to it, Theodore paused and turned to look at me.
I stood close by to watch, but it seems he wasn't comfortable with my presence.
"Why are you following me?" He questioned, lifting his brow at me.
I hummed and replied, "I just wanted to see what you were doing and nothing more."
"Is that so? Or you think I came here to steal something from your house?"
"Excuse me?" I glared at him, finding this character of his unacceptable.
"Isn't that what you city folks do? Anyone you call over to work for you becomes a criminal in your eyes, " He scoffed, going down on his knees to check the drain.
"You people always forget that others need their personal space. It's always about your f*****g selves."
"That's it. I think it's best if you leave, sir," I said, finally losing it.
Theodore turned to look at me and asked rudely, "Why? Because you magically fixed the pipes and only wasted my time here?"
"What is..." I groaned, holding back my temper. "I don't know what your problem is, Theodore or whatever they call you, but I think it's best if you leave and go somewhere else to quench your frustration," I vented out, expressing my detest towards him.
"We didn't call you here to come and speak ill about us. You came to work!" I stamped my feet, showing my anger. "And if you don't want to do that, then it's best if you leave!" I sparked out, pointing at the door.
Theodore stared at me, slowly getting to his feet. He walked up to me where I stood, almost making me look weak due to his size.
After staring at me coldly for seconds, he smirked and walked out of the basement.
Getting myself, I followed him from behind until he was out of the house. And as soon as he stepped out, I slammed the door furiously to pass a message to him.
He's no longer welcome here, that's for sure.
"What was that?!" Mother exclaimed in fear, rushing into the living room.
Cooling my temper, I said, "Mom, we'll get the pipes fixed by morning. For now, I just want to rest."
"Why morning? Is that what Theodore said?" She asked, rushing to the corridor to check if he was still around.
"He's not here, okay? I drove that rude man out of our house."
"What?" She turned to face me in shock. "Why?!"
"Mom, that man was rude! Can you imagine the nonsense he was saying to me?! I felt like... f**k!" I cursed, getting irritated by his presence in my home.
And here I thought he was a nice person like the others. He turned out to be the opposite entirely.
Mother claimed I was acting childish and told me to call Theodore back, but I refused.
"Morning I'll get a new plumber to fix the pipes. We don't need that man."
"New plumber? Tara, you don't understand..."
"I know he's your long time plumber, but he has no manners! Morning and that's final," I said, standing on my words.
I went into my room to be on my own, feeling so mad.
I never thought I'd feel this much rage for someone after all these years. That man is bad-mannered.
.
In the morning as promised, I took Mom's contact book to search for a new plumber, but the only name I found was Theodore's.
Annoyed, I decided to head into town and make enquiries. But the feedback I got from almost all the people I met was the same name over and over.
"Oh that's Theodore."
"His name is Theodore. Let me give you his contact."
"The only plumber in Green Hills is Theodore. I can give you his address."
Only plumber? How's that even possible?
Why is he the only plumber in this town?!
"s**t!" I kicked a pile of snow, feeling so annoyed.
