Chapter 2 Over the next two days, Hart worked on the pod, crooning to her as if she were a lover, and she crooned back to him. They both delighted in the results of the tests he was finally able to run. The Sarah O.’s wings extended and retracted smoothly; she rose and descended at his touch. And although her fuel tanks were filled with all the fuel the Midnight Ride could spare, the needle just barely touched the three-quarter mark. The captain had been right.
