Chapter 12 The corvid watched from a tree. She had never seen creatures like these before. Although they looked similar to the man Kes had instructed her to follow, they spoke gibberish. Kes’s man at least knew how to communicate. These beings sounded even more raucous than scavengers. The short, fat one made unintelligible noises and pounded on the one who was taller and thinner. It might be a good idea to keep watch over these intruders. The corvid had kin at the south end of the island. She’d visit them and let them know what had invaded their territory. Then she’d head north and catch up with the man.
