“You forget that I am now a married woman,” Druscilla retorted.
“I am not likely to forget it,” the Marquis answered with a groan. “Nevertheless, married or not, watch what you say. It will do neither of us any good if people are shocked by your conversation.”
“I think,” Druscilla said slowly, “that if I was talking like that and at the same time was smartly gowned, looking elegant and perhaps even attractive, you would be amused rather than incensed.”
