“You chased after a story? A myth? A children’s tale?”
Valerio paced the room, clearly agitated. I had laid everything bare—probably more than I should have, but Valerio kept pressing for an explanation. Everyone in the room looked displeased with me as well, and I understood their frustration. I would have been worried too if I had been in their shoes.
“But it worked! So what if I chased a myth? It worked!” I insisted.
Valerio shook his head, clearly unable to fathom why I would go on such a dangerous journey.
“And what about your pack? You’re not just anyone. You’re the luna now, and people depend on you. And what about your sister? How could you leave without telling her anything? Do you have any idea what she’s been through?”
