Chapter 6 Max didn’t sleep as well as he hoped. He was plagued by nightmares centering on the night Tony had attacked him. The only difference from the actual event was that it was Jack or Deacon who was the victim—and neither of them survived. Each time the nightmare ended, Max shot awake in a cold sweat, fearing that they were premonitions of what was to come. At first he tried to convince himself that Tony didn’t even know Jack or Deacon, so how could he target them. That’s not the truth, though. He knows the house.
