Called by the Siren

Chapter 10: Warning

“Is she asleep?” Jack asked as he walked in and both the twins nodded their heads. Bee had been greedy with the amount of kisses she wanted, but Ethan and Aiden had been more then willing to supply them! They had kissed in between eating, talking and laughing. Bee had eventually fallen asleep, her head was on Aiden’s lap, which her feet was on Ethan’s. Aiden had gently stroked Bee’s hair until he heard soft snoring.

“Hardly surprising, she been working hard for this challenge. Mind you Bee is a bit of a workaholic, she never stops to smell the roses” Jack said with a sad smile.

“Is that why you let us in?” Ethan asked

Jack sucked his teeth and said “Bee is the kindest and most loyal person I know. She has a lot of responsibility and has brought the Sea Gangs together. But she is also a human and needs love, support and companionship. I hope you two can give it to her that and she can find some happiness for herself. She has definitely earned it. Now come on, let’s get her to bed” Jack said and motioned for them to follow him upstairs. 

Ethan slowly moved Bee’s feet and got up, he then lifted Bee from the sofa and held her in the Bridal hold as he went upstairs with Aiden. Jack opened the door to Bee’s room and turned on the light. The Twins gasped at what they saw.

The room had a bed, desk, wardrobe and a mirror. But this is not what made them gasp, it was how sparse the room was. It was like Bee could pack up in 10 mins and not leave a trace of her being there. There were a few personal items including a Cornish flag, a Chinese lucky gold cat that was always waving and a Guitar. On the walls there was a large photo wallet wall hanging that had various pictures, most of them were of Cornwall, boats of the same two people. There was also one with Bee standing in the middle of her Grandparents and Frank.

“I know right? But you have to remember she been moving around the world for the last two years, spending months at sea. You have to travel light in those circumstances. Oh she does not sleep on the bed” Jack said as Ethan made his way to the bed.

“What?” Ethan turned and said confused. It was only then Aiden noticed that there was no bedclothes on the bed what so ever. Jack sighed and pointed to under the desk, there was a neatly made bed complete with pillow. Bee had even stuck a photo of her with her parents on the underside of the desk. It was clear she had been sleeping there.

“She sleeps under there!?!” Aiden shouted angrily waking Bee up.

“What, what is going on?”  Bee murmured sleepily.

“Nothing sweetheart, we are just putting you too bed” Ethan said softly and Bee nodded as Ethan put her down. Not fully awake, Bee automatically climbed under the desk and under the duvet.

“Thanks for a lovley evening, I will see you tomorrow, won’t I?” Bee said still half asleep

“Try and stop us” Ethan said and Bee nodded just before she feel asleep again.

Jack signalled for them to leave before he switched the light off and closed the door softly. As soon as they were all downstairs, Aiden turned to face Jack angrily.

“How could you let her sleep in those conditions? She is suppose to be your Siren for God’s sake and she is sleeping under a desk! She is in your care, you are suppose to be looking after her!” Aiden said angrily as Jack walked into the lounge and sat down. The Twins sat on the sofa opposite Jack’s chair.

“You don’t get it do you? But I suppose how could you? She has been at sea a long time and sailors sleep in coffin beds” Jack said with a shrug.

“Coffin beds?” Aiden said his eyes narrowing.

“Yes, coffin beds. Space on a ship is limited, so beds are very small and compact. Bee has slept so often in them, she finds it very difficult to sleep any where else. Trust me it is her choice!” Jack explained.

“She’s had a hard life” Ethan said softly.

“All sailor’s lives are hard, but we cannot deny the call of the sea. It is the price we pay and we all pay it willingly. You need to understand that Bee comes from a very long line of prestigious sailors and the sea is in her very bones. You will never be able to change that” Jack said firmly.

“Nor would we want to!” Aiden said and Jack nodded.

“Good, because I will tell you now the Sea Gangs will never let her step down as Siren. She has brought prosperity and peace that has not been see in a couple of centuries” Jack said

“What is involved in the Siren test?” Ethan asked Curiously.

“It has lots of diffrent parts, some of which are secrets. However, one test is that a loved one is taken and tied to a post on the shore line in a unknown location. The potenial  sirens have to locate and free them before the sea drowns them. Holly, Bee’s best friend was taken and Bee of course found all of the people taken first. But she knew the others would not get there in time, it was a very difficult area to navigate. So Bee freed and saved them all, even though it was extremely dangerous. One of the people she saved  includes our friend Viktor” Jack said stroking his chin remembering the astonishment on the elders faces.

“Viktor?” Ethan said surprised.

“Why, yes. His sister was one of the contestants, Lexi I think her name is. Anyway, after that the other contestants dropped out realising by far Bee was the candidate” Jack said as he remembered the contestants all coming back devastated thinking a that a love one had drowned, when in fact they where there waiting for them. Bee had brushed it off, saying that they would have all done the same. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. One could of got rid of a lot of Enemies that day by leaving them to drown.  Bee’s actions had untied the Sea Gangs that day and they had all taken the knee to pledge allegiance.

“So that is how they know each other!” Aiden said softly

“That and the Krakens connections to Russia” Jack said casually

“What connection?” Ethan said surprised 

“Don’t  you know? Bee’s Grandfather is Leonid Voronin, Demitri’s Medvedev cousin. Lenoid was the leader of the famous Leopard Seals Sea Gang” Jack said.

The Twins looked at each other shocked, even they knew the famous stories of the Leopard Seal Leader! Lenoid Voronin was a key figure in the war taking out the Nazis and smuggling supplies to Britain. An expert Sailor and Smuggler, Lenoid quickly made his fortune smuggling luxury goods. He then fell head over heels in love with the Kraken Leader, Rosemary Clearwater. As was tradition with sea gangs, the men took the women’s second name and moved to their gang. Lenoid had fallen off the radar, but stories of his exploits lived on.

“So that is why Viktor Poletov wants to marry her!” Ethan growled 

Jack laughed loudly, before saying “I am sorry but did you really think it was just Viktor Poletov? There are men all over the world trying to gain Bee’s hand in marriage!”

“Include you?” Aiden snapped

“Me? No...she is like my sister. Do not worry gentlemen, you have no competition from me” Jack said calmly.

“Why are you telling us all this?” Ethan said suspiciously 

“Because I want you to know that if you hurt her or cheat on her, then it will have far reaching consequences. I know you sleep with a certain two sisters who have a very nasty streak. Bee will never be your mistress or your bit on the side!” Jack suddenly snapped.

“We will talk them and make it very clear that it is over!” Aiden said firmly and Ethan nodded. 

“Make sure you do, because a lot of people will be watching” Jack warned.
