Called by the Siren

Chapter 19: A Challenging Morning!

“Hey! Wake up sleepy head!” Holly said as she came in a room banging a saucepan and spoon. She had grown up with Bee and knew she had difficulty in getting up.

“What time is it?” Bee moaned from under the covers

“7!!!” Holly sung like an opera singer.

“7? The challenge does not start till 10! I have got at least another hour in bed!” Jamie groaned.

“Nonsense!” Holly said

“Minnow, get your arse out of bed and in the food tent! I want to see you in there in the next 15 minutes or so help me God! You may be the Siren, but you are still a Kraken!” Her Grandfather’s voice boomed.

Bee jumped up straight away! “Man he is grumpy this morning!” Bee moaned as she started to get dressed.

“No s**t! He has had the Krakens doing exercises and training since 5!” Holly said sulkily. She maybe the Siren’s handmaiden, but Holly still had to do what the Captain ordered.

“I heard that Ladies!” Leonid boomed. 

Holly and Bee rolled their eyes at each other before giggling. It was good to have her best friend with her again!

Bee could hear the shouting before she even set foot in the tent. It was not an uncommon sound in the Kraken camp, but Bee gasp at the scene. There was a very angry Bram glaring at two Black Bears, who were drinking coffee seemingly unfazed.

“Brother?” Holly asked

“What is going on?” Bee asked her eyes narrowing.

“These two idiots have come over and said they have been sent over to provide extra security for The Siren!” Bram said furiously.

The two Black Bears turned to Bee and bowed. 

A man with black curly hair said “Greetings Siren, my name is Maxim and this is Igor. We are both members of the North Wind Sea Gang. We have been ordered by our Tsar to offer security to yourself” 

“It is a great honour, Siren. Your skills are renowned, but I was not prepared for you beauty!” Igor said with a small smile. He had brown straight hair and blue eyes. Bee blushed deeply and looked to the ground, it was far to early to flirt.

“How dare you talk to her like that?” Bram roared.

“I was just stating facts!” Igor said innocently.

“Well state less of them and go back to your own camp! We don’t need your help, we can protect one of our own just fine!” Bram snapped

“Oh boy!” Holly muttered as she went to grab a coffee. 

“I agree with Bram, if Bee needs protection her Partners will take care of it” a familiar male voice said. 

Bee sighed just when she thought this situation could not get anymore awkward, The Twins had just walked in!

“I agree Ethan, though I am intreasted in knowing why the Russians feel that our girl needs extra security” Aiden said.

“Well we will find out but first” Ethan said before he faced Bee and kissed her. “Morning Darling, you looking as lovely  as ever” he said.

“What are you doing here? Apart from causing trouble, that is?” Bee said recovering from the kiss.

“Do we need a reason to visit our beautiful girlfriend?” Ethan said with a dashing smile.

“Ethan!” Bee warned. She had not had her first coffee yet and already had to cope with far to much testosterone then she wanted to.

“The King and Queen have invited you to breakfast. They have had a chef prepare a special meal that will help you in the challenge” Aiden said not taking his eyes off the Bears.

“Sorry no can do, I have a strict diet of seaweed and boiled eggs this morning. It is Kraken tradition!” Bee said with a sigh. She kissed Aiden on the lips, making the Black Bears eyes open with shock.

“Is something wrong?” Ethan said in a challenging tone. He had seen the shocked looked and had not liked it.

“No, we just didn’t realise that she was being courted by both of you!” Igor blurted out, making Bee blush again.

“Well what can I say, your Siren is too good not to share and she does like to be shared!” Ethan said mischievously, making Bee wish the ground would open up and swallow her. 

“Why would he embarrass me like that and make out to be a slut? In front of my people as well!” Bee thought furiously.

“OK, I had enough now! Holly, can you please grab my breakfast and bring it to my tent. I don’t want to see anyone this morning! Bram send my apologies on to the King and Queen please” Bee said upset as she went back to her tent.

“Darling..” Aiden said seeing she was upset.

Holly grabbed Bee’s  breakfast and looked at them all before saying “Great going guys, like she doesn’t have enough on her plate without this!” Holly walked out leaving the men to all look at each other.

The Twins looked at each other and nodded. “Sweetheart?!?” Aiden called as he ran after Bee.

 Ethan on the other hand turned and said “I notice you didn’t answer my Brother’s question. Why are you here? Please don’t even think about lying to me, I am really not in the mood!”

Bee ran back to her tent and sat on her  bed.  She picked up her favourite photo of her parents from her bedside table and looked at it. It was one of her favourite memories of them crab fishing off a rocky beach.

“Mum and Dad, what the hell am I doing?” Bee said

“Hey, are you OK?” Holly said as she hurried in with Bee’s breakfast. She put the tray of food on Bee’s desk before sitting next to her on the bed.

“I don’t think I can do this Holly” she confided in her old friend

“What the Challenge? You will smash it!” Holly said genuinely.

“No, I mean the courtship with the Twins, I am so inexperienced….with such things” Bee said quietly.

“You maybe, but there is nothing wrong with that. You just need to follow your instincts and relax!” Holly said wisely.

“Bee, come I come in love?” Aiden said softly at the tent entrance.

“I will leave you to it. Aiden, make sure she eats something, she is terrible with breakfast but she needs to load up on protein before the challenge” Holly said as she walked out.

Bee put the picture back and said an awkward “Hi!”

“Ethan, he didn’t mean to say it. He just ..he just..” Aiden said

“Can be a thoughtless d**k?” Bee said and Aiden laughed.

“Yes!” Aiden said with a shrug.

“God, you two must people girls off with sticks!” Bee said sarcastically as she patted the space on her bed. Aiden smiled and sat down.

“Well I did, Ethan was just a hanger on” Aiden said making Bee chuckle.

“I am not a slut you know” Bee blurted out suddenly. She could feel the blood rush to her cheeks and she scolded herself.

“Darling, we don’t think that at all!” Aiden said as he cupped her face and kissed her lips softly. He was secretly relived to find her respond.

“Aiden?” Bee asked

“Yes Love?” Aiden asked

“Do you want to just cuddle for a bit?” Bee asked a little nervously. Somehow, this was more difficult for her to ask. She was worried Aiden was going to laugh at her!

“That sounds like a wonderful idea!” Aiden said genuinely. 

Soon Bee and Aiden were laid down on the bed. Bee was in in Aiden’s arms with her head under his chin. Aiden felt her relax and realised how stressed she must be about this challenge. He swore that after the challenge, he was going to make her life as easy as possible.

“Aiden?” He heard her whisper

“Hmmm?” he said as he kissed her forehead.

“I am scared!” Bee said

“Well I am scared too, but let’s make a deal and be scared together. OK?” Aiden said gently

“OK” Bee said after a few moments and Aiden smiled as he stroked her hair.

Neither of them heard the shouts that were coming from the food tent. Bram had left to pass Bee’s apologies on, leaving Ethan alone with the Bears. He had Igor in a painful arm hold.

“Now tell me, who is after my Princess?!” Ethan growled, his eyes were as hard as ice.
