Bee woke up later that day alone in her bed and Sam undoing a lightbulb. Luckily, it was their rest day and so there was no rush to get up. Bee felt a mixture of confusion and disappointment, she had wanted to wake up next to Sam! There was also an uneasy feeling nagging in the back of her mind.
“Morning Bee, or should I say Good late afternoon?” Sam said with a smile.
“Urgh, I don't know anymore! What are you doing?” Bee asked. She wanted to know why Sam was not in bed with her!
“Well, I woke up early and changed all the lightbulbs. I did not want you to go and hurt yourself again!” Sam said with a shrug as he finished screwing the light fitting back. Bee was taken aback at this gesture.
“Sam, that is..is so kind and thoughtful!” Bee said getting up as she felt her eyes fill with tears.
“Bee, why are you crying?” Sam said rushing over to her and cupping her face with his hands.
“I...I am sorry, it was just so nice and I am..” Bee said not sure how to finish.
“Not use to someone looking after you? Oh, my little Siren, you are so busy looking after everyone else aren't you?” Sam said softly as he moved in for a kiss. Bee didn't resist as she felt Sam’s lips on hers. She deepened the kiss and put her arms around his neck. Bee was surprised when Sam suddenly, stopped and moved away.
“What is wrong?” Bee said confused.
“Nothing at all Bee, in fact, it is a little too right. If you know what I mean!” Sam said coughing.
“A little too right? I really don't understand!” Bee said frustrated.
“Meaning that you are an extremely attractive woman” Sam started to say.
“Thank you...but why do I think there is a but..” Bee asked.
Sam sighed and said, “I like you so much Bee, but I don't want to involve you...in my stuff!”
“Okay, what stuff?” Bee asked. Sam did not answer and Bee went on to ask “Sam, is this something to do with medical school? Don't make me order you to tell me!”
Sam did not answer and his face went dark suddenly said “ My sister..my sister Willow has been kidnapped! I am on here to get money to buy her back!”
“What? Why didn't you tell me or bring it to the sea syndicate?” Bee said shocked.
“They said they would kill her if I did. Besides, I am a member of a smaller gang and this is not unusual at the moment.” Sam said.
“Not unusual? What does or mean?” Bee asked her eyes narrowing.
“Bee, there has been lots of sea gang members been taken to be sold. We've had to do hurricane ships all season to buy our family members back!” Sam explained.
“I can't believe this!” Bee said angrily. How am I not aware of this?” Bee thought.
“Bee you can't say anything about this to anyone! I...I can't risk Willow’s life!” Sam said getting upset.
Bee put her arms around him and said “Sam, we will sort it and get her back! Then we will find out who is doing this and make them pay!”
Sam put his arms around her and began to say” Thank you. But, I feel I should say I never got with you because..”
“It didn't even cross my mind, Sam!” Bee said genuinely, she knew that Sam was not that type of person.
“You are special Bee, I want to take it slow,” Sam said.
“Me too!” Bee admitted. If she was honest with herself, she wasn't ready mentally for s*x with Sam. That is not because she didn't want to, she definitely did, just not right now.
“Hmmm, it doesn't mean that we can’t have some fun!” Sam said as he began kissing her neck.
Bee giggled as she felt a tickling sensation. “Stop! I need a shower!” Bee said.
“Fancy company?” Sam said.
“Why not?” Bee said as she led him to to the shower.
Later that night, Bee and Sam were doing their regular jog on the deck of the cargo ship. Bee had a lot to think about.
“Why would someone go after sea gang members and how am I not aware of this” Bee asked herself. There was also something in the back of her mind.
“Bee? Are you Ok?” Sam asked as they slowed down near the top of the cargo shop.
“Yeah! Just got lots on my mind and I just got this feeling!” Bee said as she took a drink of water from her bottle.
“Feeling?” Sam asked.
“Stupid right?” Bee said
“Absoutley not! A sailor should always trust their instincts!” Sam said genuinely.
Bee stopped and looked at the sea, or often helped her clear her mind. Then, it struck her and her whole body was filled with dread.
“Oh, no!” Bee said panicked.
“Bee?” Sam said worriedly.
“The water!” Bee said.
“What, it is calm, like a millpond!” Sam said unfazed.
“Yeah, the sea goes like that just before a hurricane!” Bee said as she started towards the bridge. They were all heading for trouble, big trouble!
