Chapter 1America, five years later… Cato Mendez sat in the dark club with his favorite drink, a Blue Martini, sitting on the table in front of him. When he picked up the glass, he felt the chilled wetness that had gathered on the outside of his glass drop onto his red silk ascot, held in place by an ornamental stud. He was dabbing at it when the show started, and the curtain opened up. The singer faced the front, with three male dancers behind him who crouched down with their backs to the audience. The dancers were wearing black skimpy, cutaway costumes, and each had a black fedora perched on his head.
