#3 The Swift Escape

Evelyn woke up with cramps in her body that she was not aware could exist. What did she do last night? Evelyn had no memory of it. She cussed. But just as she turned to get out of the bed, she felt the softest mattress possible and a strong arm wrapping her up. In a flash, Evelyn got up, pushing the hands away from her body. The man flinched and muttered something in his sleep. She sighed. She did not wish to wake up the man sleeping beside her. Evelyn peeped inside the soft comforter that was enveloping both of them comfortably. She sighed, looking at her naked body. She moved her fingers towards her thighs and exhaled a deep breath of frustration. It was sticky around her thighs. Did he c*m inside her? Were they not using protection? It's a good thing she was on pills, but what if she wasn't? The man had no decency to use condoms? That's when her eyes fell on the almost torn condom pack kept on top of a bedside table. Did she ask the man sleeping beside her not to use it? Maybe she did! Or maybe she didn't! What has she done? The last thing she remembered was walking to the bar and drinking. How could she be so reckless to end up here? There was no visible sign of a fight, only the cramp, suggesting it was a willful venture. She groaned a bit but only to make the man put his arm back on her body and dragging her to sleep. She swiftly moved his hands as she leaped out from the bed as smoothly as she could. She did not wish to wake him up. She had no idea what he would say? What were the chances he was a hooker? She quickly looked for her clothes. But as she walked towards it, she could feel the pain behind her legs. Did they use tools? She wondered what kind of savage person she had been? She was sore, and she smelled of s*x. Hell, the whole room screamed s*x. She tiptoed across the room uncomfortably looking for her bra, but only to find it under the body of the man sleeping on the bed peacefully. Yeah! She could bet he had a good exercise yesterday! She went stealthily towards his side of the bed and tried to get the bra. But he was hefty, and she could not put much pressure. She did not want to wake him up. It would get more awkward than it already was. Also, he seemed to fumble something unintelligent every time she made a move. She hissed as she gave up the idea to take her bra back. Guess she has to do without them for now. She doesn't want any unnecessary confrontations. She was just happy it was not her dress. She got into the showers as she did not want to reek of s*x. She quickly washed herself off till she was satisfied. Then, she stealthily made her way out of the room. She was just about to leave when something struck her. What if the stranger man was a hooker? She felt guilty about ditching him like that. It was his job, and she could tell he exceeded at this. She groaned as she went to the room again. She found a note beside his bedside. Below it, she found her ID. She had given it to the man at the counter for safe custody. She was glad she found it. How could she forget something like that! She just hoped the man did not care about it and did not find much about her. She quickly wrote - "thank you for your service.", and looked for her purse to check for the money. She had 20$ left. She put all the money she had. But then, she thought about her expenditures. She took out 10$ and left the rest with a sorry note. It was too less. But she had no idea how much a hooker demands. And that was all she can give him right now. She looked at the man who was now sleeping on his back. It was the first time she got a full view of his handsome face. He was by far the most beautiful man she had ever seen. He was a sight to watch at leisure. At least she was not f*****g a nut. She was happy even when drunk she had a great taste of men. She blushed as weird feelings crept inside of her. She quickly brushed them away as she tiptoed till she was out of the room. Evelyn walked towards the elevator. It was a lonesome room. She was a bit cautious the whole way till she reached the main hall. She was not wearing anything underneath, but she was grateful as there were not many passersby as it was still very early in the morning. As she reached the reception, she wondered if they have paid for the room for the night. She flustered while thinking about its price. It did look like a high-end fancy hotel for the rich people. Didn't they get any other hotel to f**k? At least any other room! That room soared pricey. She let out a long exhale as she walked towards the receptionist, who welcomed her with a warm smile. "How can I help you, miss?" The receptionist questioned. She looked as fresh as a cherry blossom. "The room on the seventeenth floor. I just wanted to know if the bill needs to get settled, else I would like to clear it." Evelyn stuttered. She was not confident if she had money left in her credit card to pay for the room. Her stomach scrunched in fear. "Let me check it for you as there was someone else last night." She smiled at Evelyn courteously even though she could read her hesitation. She was not even sure Evelyn could pay for the presidential suite. It was the most expensive one, and very few could afford it. It mostly goes unbooked. "It is already paid. You can enjoy breakfast. We start early." She confirmed Evelyn. Evelyn was never happier before. Such a huge burden was gone. Wait! that means that man paid for it! Or did she swiped her card in a drunken state? She quickly looked over her phone messages. There were a bunch of texts from Nate and one from her mother. A few promotional ones. But there was no message or anything that would suggest that she paid for that heaven. Evelyn sighed with relief. She was feeling hungry. She was not sure about having food last night. But she was definite that having breakfast at the hotel was a terrible idea. What if the man wakes up and looks for her? She must hurry. But before that, she had something more to ask that receptionist lady. Seeing the customer not moving, the receptionist again asked if she needed any help. Evelyn was a bit reluctant, but when she saw the receptionist smiling at her encouragingly, she took a deep breath and looked towards her. "What is the name of the man who booked the room?" Evelyn asked. Evelyn knew it would make her look like she was the hooker. Maybe it was her who threw herself at him last night. It could be because she just wanted revenge on Nate. But she must know who that man was if not a hooker. She regretted leaving that note and money. Now he would laugh at her foolishness. But she was not going there back to get it back. Anyways, he would probably forget her by noon. The receptionist glared at her for a brief second before speaking, "Liam Wilson." Evelyn had never heard of him. Well, she didn't know many people. It was always her and the books, and Ava and Nate. Well, now it was going to be her and the books. "Thank you." She said as she walked towards the lobby. She did not want to spend another moment in this city. She would go back to Philadelphia and fill that form. She would join the prestigious design school like she wanted as now there was no marriage to attend and no need to give up or delay her career dreams. She took the first bus she saw to the airport. Then, Evelyn booked the first flight leaving for Philadelphia. A small smile spread across her face when she took her window seat. It could be due to the s*x. Though her body ached everywhere, and she felt uncomfortable walking, she was feeling rejuvenated inside. Her body remembers last night's passion, unlike her mind. Also, she did not feel lost anymore. There was a career to look forward to and achieve. She always wanted to be a clothing designer. It was an odd career choice for someone so bookish, but this has fascinated her from childhood. Despite her financial issues, she still had the best fashion sense. She could make anything out of nothing. No wonder Nate was attracted towards her despite all those rich girls! The thought of Nate hurt her a lot, but she pushed past it as she looked outside the never-ending sky across the window. Back in Philadelphia, she rushed to her old room. She was sharing it with Ava. It was not much as she chose the smaller one leaving most of the space for Ava. Ava paid for most of it while she was only paying for her small clumsy one room. She wanted to live in the dorms, but Nate and Ava had convinced her to share the apartment. As she looked across the room, many memories flooded her mind. Every corner had something screaming about her life with Ava and then with both Ava and Nate. She cooed to a round ball and cried her heart out again. She wondered if it was a one-time thing that she walked upon or it has happened behind her back before. There were many times Ava and Nate were together alone in this house. That thought was unsettling, and it made her feel angrier. How could they betray her? How was she so innocent not to have found anything fishy over these years. Ava was always in awe of Nate. Ava would tease Evelyn all the time that she would take Nate for herself if ever Evelyn dumped Nate. Her wish came true finally. She could have that traitor for herself. When her stomach grumbled for food, she got up and packed her things. She had nowhere to go. So probably, she had to go to her parent's house. It was the only place she could go on such short notice. It was nothing big or fancy and was on the downsides, but it was a place she could call home, where people loved her no matter what. She called for a taxi and dropped a text to her mother for food. Her mother kept calling and texting several times, asking why she was back from her trip that early and if Nate was coming. She had no answer to text back to her mother, nor she wanted to speak of Nate in the taxi. She will explain to them when she was at home, with her parents, beside her to support her. She did not want to be wrapped up in a man's arm the next morning! That thought itself made Evelyn blush. It was probably the most daring thing she ever did in her life. She wondered if that man would ever remember her? She certainly would. It was not something that happened every day with her. Hell, it was the first time. When she reached her home, her parents were already waiting for her outside. Maybe that's how parents were. They always knew about your troubles even before you speak about them. She ran to their warm embraces as she cried her heart out, sharing of Nate and Ava's betrayal. Of course, she skipped the part about Liam. After she ate well, her parents comforted her to sleep with reassuring and supportive words and actions. As she slept, she dreamt of Liam, and a small smile spread across her lips involuntarily. - On the other hand, Liam kept looking at the 10$ and the note several times. He was not sure what to think about it. What was she thinking? This girl was so different, a breath of fresh air. Another girl in her place would probably have tried to pursue him, but she left him with that note and 10$! He took out a box lying inside his drawers and opened it. It contained Evelyn's bra. He smiled, looking at it. He put the note and money inside it, putting it in his bag. He would carry it to Philadelphia and maybe will look for her. He barely remembered anything from that ID apart from her name. It was gone with Evelyn. One thing he was sure, he will never forget her. He smiled, remembering her swift escape.
