Chapter 2 True Colors

"Rory, are you crazy? How dare you..." The cold water drenched Viola from head to toe, making her shiver and furious at the same time. "Why won’t I dare? Even a puppy knows when to bite and bark when she was under attack," Rory said as she wiped the water dry from her fingertips. Viola's mouth opened in shock as she couldn't believe her eyes and ears. Rory felt satisfied after seeing Viola's surprised expression. For the past three years that she had been the Luna, no matter how violent and hard Viola and Luna Sophie had been to her, Rory had always tried her best to do everything to make them happy. She didn’t cause any trouble. Rory was always gentle and kind and would put up with their sarcastic remarks and abuse. Rory had enduring them long enough, and she didn't want to take it anymore. After all, she had no reason too. Viola stared ahead in shock while Rory grabbed her suitcase and left without looking back. Once outside the Rotwoods Pack, Rory saw Nicki, her best friend. "Baby, get in. Let’s have a party." Nicki lowered the car window, poked her head out, and flew a kiss at her. "It's Sylvia again? Just because they're mate?" Nicki said after learning the reason why Cole decided to broke the bond with her. "Maybe…I’m not his fated mate anyway," Rory said while stirring her coffee. Rory didn't know Sylvia because Sylvia already left the country when she met Cole. She had only heard from gossips that Sylvia was a very gentle, kind, and understanding person. "But Cole is generous enough. He gave you houses, cars, and $20 million." Seeing Rory did not want to mention those things related to Cole, Nicki changed the subject. "But… you already have many of these." She looked up at Rory and said regretfully. After Alpha Ken died, Rory didn't want to take care of the kingdom and the company, so she gave the administrative authority to her cousin, Wayne Lane. Therefore, she didn't have to do anything but take the company's share quarterly. However, that made everyone think that the company was transferred to Wayne. Rory and Cole signed a property agreement before they got married, so everyone always thought she was just an orphan with nothing. "The more money, the better." Rory said distractedly. "Rory, you can take that money and buy clothes and bags and leave The Rotwoods Pack in style! But have you thought about what you're going to do after leaving the Rotwoods Pack?" Nicki asked while looking at Rory who was sitting in front of her, and was unreasonably busy in her coffee cup. Rory, who had a double degree in psychology and music at Malar University, dropped out after Alpha Ken's death and received her diploma a year later. By then, she had become the Luna of the Rotwoods Pack. What she would do in the future never crossed her mind. "It's okay. You can think about it after you leave the Rotwoods Pack. Right now, the most important thing for us is to eat and go shopping. We can go to Alpha Hunting in a few days," Nicki said while holding her hand. "In case you didn't know, King Blake will be in the Alpha Hunting too." She winked mysteriously, feeling a little excited. Rory was a little surprised. King Blake was the Lycan King. He’s the Lycan's Alpha, and a real estate mogul. He was very wealthy and mysterious, and it was rare that he would be interested in that kind of activity. Lycan pack members were small in number but powerful. In the past, there were Alpha groups that rebelled against Lycan, but they were defeated every time. Therefore, werewolves choose to live peacefully with Lycan and invite Lycan King Blake, Blake Tutum, to any event. But King Blake rarely showed up. He would only reply with gratitude cards. "Rory, you were very busy before, so there’s one thing I didn’t tell you. Professor Fuchs is not feeling well lately. You should go visit him as long as you are free." After shopping, Nicki suddenly reminded. Professor Fuchs was Rory's professor in college and was considered her mentor in research psychology. Rory nodded, then drove the car back to her small apartment. After leaving the Rotwoods Pack, Rory planned to stay in the apartment for the time being. She was surprised to see Alpha Cole waiting for her by the side of the car just as she arrived at the apartment. Inside the car was a beautiful woman who seemed gentle and kind. Upon seeing her, the woman got out of the car and walked towards her while Cole was lovingly holding her. She held out her hand to Rory and said, "Hi, Rory. I'm Sylvia Preston, and I also came from the Rotwoods Pack." Rory instantly froze in her place. She looked at them calmly but did not shake Sylvia's hand. Sylvia looked a little embarrassed. "Grandpa knows we're getting a divorce, so he asked you to come to my house for dinner tonight. Your phone was off, so I came to pick you up." Cole, who was on the side, spoke instead to lighten up the awkward atmosphere. "I know." Rory looked at her phone after noticing it was indeed off. "I have to go back and charge it. I'll be there later." She nodded and said. "I can wait for you," Cole said with a frown. "I'll just go by myself." Rory interrupted him with a smile. "And, let's go to the courthouse tomorrow at nine in the morning if you're free to get the bond-breaking vow." "Are you in such a hurry?" Alpha Cole was a bit restless for some reason after hearing her words. "Yes, it's urgent." Seeing his silence, Rory glanced at Sylvia. Cole had nothing to say, so he and Sylvia left together. After walking a few steps, Sylvia suddenly whispered something to Cole. "Ms. Lane, thanks anyway." She turned towards Rory and said. "For what?" Rory was a little puzzled. "Alpha Cole and I didn't get to think of each other as mates when we were young. After that, I never imagined we'd have a chance to be together again. I know you love him very much, but if it wasn't for you, we probably wouldn't have had the chance to be together." With that, Sylvia glanced back at Cole who was waiting for him a few feet away from them. "You're wrong." Rory looked at her and said, "I didn't divorce him to make you guys happy. It's just because I don't like him anymore and I won't like him anymore." Sylvia was slightly stunned as that wasn’t what she expected. "Besides, your feelings for each other have nothing to do with me," Rory said coldly. Rory felt extremely relaxed because she had left the Rotwoods Pack, and didn’t have to restrain herself any longer. She picked out a red dress she liked… For the first time in a long time, she chose what she wanted and not what’s appropriate. Afterwards, she put on a contact lenses and makeup. It was something she had hardly ever done while living at the Rotwoods Pack. Now, should do everything she wanted to do. After she changed and put on her makeup, she went to the Rotwoods Pack's house. "Luna Rory, this way please." When she walked in, she found Sylvia at the table with Alpha Cole. Alpha Jaime had a displeased expression plastered on his face, and the atmosphere felt rather dull. "Rory, come on, you haven't had dinner with me in a while." Seeing her, Alpha Jaime greeted her with a smile. Alpha Cole subconsciously raised his head. When he saw Rory, his heart immediately beat faster. Rory looked feminine and dazzling with her glasses off. She was completely different from the person he remembered. "Alpha Cole, are you not feeling well? Would you like some soup?" While he was thinking, a pair of warm hands gently held him. Cole whipped his head around to find Sylvia looking at him with concern, and he shook his head as a reply. "I heard all about you and Cole. Rory, don't worry, you're the only Luna we have in the Rotwoods Pack," Alpha Jaime said to Rory after he finished his meal. "Even if someone leaves the Rotwoods Pack, it should be the other woman who destroyed other people's family and that irresponsible fool!" With that being said, he looked at Sylvia and Cole, who were sitting on the side of the table.
