“Hayle!” Jaxter held her face. He had been calling her to move, but Hayle seemed unresponsive. Jaxter knew his wife must be in shock from what she had just witnessed. As he held her cheeks, Hayle felt like she was coming back to reality. She looked at Jaxter with a panicked expression. From her eyes, Jaxter could tell she was deeply shocked. “Look at me! Look at me!”
“He! He!” Hayle trembled, her teeth chattering, fear gripping her tightly.
“We have to leave! We need to get out of here! Come on!” Jaxter urged, trying to snap his wife out of her shock.
Hayle could only nod while trying to take deep breaths. Unfortunately, even the air seemed unwilling to fill her lungs, as her courage had shrunk to match her current state.
“Sir, we’re surrounded!” one of the guards announced.
