Adara and I drove down past the forest and I phoned James on the way.
“Are you two up?” I asked when he finally answered.
“Barely, Kiran, I barely survived,” James said, and I could hear Shoran in the background threatening him. I smiled as I thought back to my own experiences just a few hours ago.
“Well, get dressed. We’re picking you up in a few minutes,” I said, and ended the call. We stopped in front of their house, and James and Shoran came outside, hand in hand, both smiling. Adara moved to the back and James got in next to me.
