The sound echoed in Alexa's head as she sunk to the bottom of the lake. The lake was not as deep as she had expected. Then again, they had fallen close to the shallow end. The water was chilling and sent shivers down her spine. She gathered up her strength and swam to the surface before losing her breath. The water rippled around her, blocking her vision.
She searched for Mindy but, could not spot her anywhere. Taking a deep lungful of air she went underwater again, swimming nearby where they had fallen. Something brushed against her leg and sent her swimming at a whopping speed back up to the surface.
