Darlene’s pov She was late. I didn't have any complaints about it. By the time she arrived, Seth and Stephen had had dinner and gone to their rooms. The atmosphere of the mansion became cloudy the minute she stepped inside. Everyone fell silent as she marched through the main gate and towards the stairs. No one wanted to attract much attention to themselves. We did not know what might irritate her. The smallest incident could enrage her, and facing her fury was the last thing we needed. All the workers worked hard to keep everything up to her expectations, but she didn't notice. She skipped dinner and went upstairs without casting a glance at the food our chef had prepared.
