THE day dawned as bright and as clear as any she could remember. She stood on the porch, breathing in the clean air, her eyes wandering over the rambling plains beyond the town limits. This was a staggeringly beautiful place and, if she did have doubts, they were now dispelled. This had been a good move. A decision well made. She heard the footfall behind her and turned to see Lewis, stretching and yawning as he joined her. “Isn’t it just the most perfect place?” she asked him, slipping her arms around his waist, drawing him close. “It is,” he said, pressing his face into her hair.
