Angel is turned towards her locker.
She sends a message to her boss at her part time job that she wouldn't be able to work today. After successfully crafting a message, she tucks the phone into her pocket and places her hoodie over her head.
Angel doesn't know what to do next.
If she closed her locker now, she would walk into class before it even starts and look like that girl who doesn't have any friends. "The one who got bullied."
Her heart breaks as she thinks about how forlorn and pitiable the life she's living is. She adjusts her glasses as she pretends to search for something that hasn't been misplaced.
As she pretends, she overhears the conversation between the girls beside her. What catches her ear first is the person they speak of.
Sawyer Morgan.
Can you believe it?
"The PESTs are recruiting, one lucky person gets to join their club and become a member. It is gold served on a platter"
Angel listens.
Yes, I heard.
Tess has been announcing the news even though we all heard it yesterday at the assembly.
Do you think she has a chance?
Angel's hand quivers at the mention of Tess.
"If she gets picked, it would be a disaster on whoever is on her bad side."
"You know how the PESTs are; they have each other's backs in every crook and cranny.". Tess would be unstoppable; I hope she doesn't get picked though!
Tears slip from Angel's eyes as the reminiscences of last night hit her once again, she hasn't recovered. The twinge and echo of their voices are still unsullied and new.
Did you know?
The pick starts by two this afternoon; I wonder what the catch is.
Why?
Because the PESTs are unreadable!
The girl beside Angel jams their locker and walks away with her friend.
Angel wipes her eyes.
The school bell rings and she jams her locker right after.
Angel is about to enter the class, she is held still by the incidence of yesterday and because of that she has to take a moment before she walks into class. She isn't mentally prepared to face the whole again especially when Tess and Eric have her in their blacklist.
She inhales and braces herself.
"If she can go through something like that and come to school this morning after such humiliating trauma, then, she can handle whatever life throws at her." Angel tells herself.
After giving herself confidence, she emerges into the class and walks straight to her seat. The moment she reaches her seat, her heart drops again and her palms fret and produces sweat, her lips are trembling as she almost breaks into tears.
Angel steps back in cold fear when she finds Eric Olden in her seat; he is smiling at her with folded hands. He has his goons behind the seat who have surrounded that area too. As Angel steps back, she bumps into someone.
She turns and finds Sawyer right behind her.
If Angel weren't in such ditch, she would have been amused by his glorious and mouth watering presence. "From his dominant masculine that speaks volume for just an high schooler, it intimidates anything in his way as his pitch black curled up tresses covers one of his eyes."
Sawyer head over to his own seat and the class is in silence like they know something is about to come up. Everyone knows Eric is trying to bully Angel, but everyone wants to know if Sawyer will stand for her.
Angel turns away, she is about to find another seat before she hears Sawyer's deep voice that reverberates throughout the classroom.
"Stand, that seat belongs to Angel."
Angel freezes in her step when she hears what he says.
Eric laughs out loudly.
He is obviously intimidated by Sawyer but he's pretending to be cool underneath his shell.
Yeah. Eric stands and the class falls into loud clamour at the embarrassment Eric, the one who calls himself 'valiant' has just out himself through.
Sawyer turns back to Angel and beckons her to seat.
Angel quietly nods and paves way for Eric who has his hands clenched.
Tess walks right in at the right time to watch the ordeal that her henchman just went through; she has blazing anger in her eyes as she walks over to her own seat. It annoys her to spine that Sawyer Morgan is showing attention to a girl and the girl has to be Angel, out of every other girl in school?
It disgusts her to the core, and she has had enough of it.
Ever since Sawyer Morgan joined their class she hasn't even had the chance to speak to him or get his attention. Why did he have to sit beside Angel of all people, and now he is having her back.
After witnessing the t-shirt Angel wore yesterday after she and her underlings coated her in raw egg. She didn't expect Angel to get help from anyone because she knew Angel had no friends.
It must mean that Sawyer saw her and helped her.
Tess waited for Angel to perhaps come into the school hall for her gym clothes, she wanted the whole school to see her that way, but when she saw Angel walk into class with a clean body and a surprise written behind the t-shirt.
Tess decided to make a new plan.
The thing that made her angrier is the fact that Sawyer was missing during the assembly headed by his friends and that the next time she saw him, he was behind Angel.
The class has started to talk about them and Tess cannot stand it.
It should have been her.
And because of that, she meets up with Eric, the guy who has been trying to date her since ninth grade, a bully and oppressor like her. Tess made it clear to him that she wants Angel to be terrified of her so much that she wouldn't even try to resume school.
"Worse, Tess also wants her to transfer from Crestville High and never return again." Only for her to come into class this morning and watch Sawyer Morgan have her back again. Tess is at the verge of crying.
She walks over to her seat in anger and tries to preserve a composed nature. Right now she is working on something that needs her utmost focus and that is becoming a member of the PESTs.
During Yesterday's assembly, the two female members of PEST affirmed an assembly to tell the whole school that they would be recruiting a new member to their squadron. It is all Tess has ever wanted, if she joins the groups she would be invited to all of their gatherings, there will be a position for her in their lounge and she would be a PEST.
She feels like unleashing her anger towards Angel, but she doesn't want to put herself in the lime light. Everyone would see that she is still bullying her ninth grade ex-friend and then her opportunity to become sawyer's girlfriend will go down to the drain
At this point in time, Tess believes that she is the greatest candidate for this trial. She is already popular and everyone in Crestville High calls her the 'Queen of Bulls.' There is no way the PESTs haven't heard of her yet.
"Ever since she met Sawyer she has been looking for a way to get closer to him."
She has wanted to become a PEST for such a long time. Tess had thought of becoming friends with Ashley, she is one of the members who became a PEST when she started to date Peter.
Tess had heard that the club is more than anything you can envisage and they are society that influences about a great deal of what goes on in Crestville High.
The slightest imagination of being a PEST in Tess's mind makes her bright and breezy, if she can become a PEST she would be able to makes Angel's life much more despondent to the extent of suicide.
Tess snickers when she thinks about it.
For so long she had tried to know what goes in within and between the PESTs, and one thing she found out was how Peter, a PEST member dealt with this adversaries. And that alone tells her that she would have enough support and backing to send Angel packing out of Crestville High or out of the world.
Tess turns behind to stare at Sawyer Morgan and she notices how he's gazing at Angel while she is unaware. Tess's hands balls into a fist with unfathomable detestation.
Why is he looking at her that way?
What did he see in her?
She is just an orphan, nothing else.
Tess doesn't know when her resentment turns into tears as she continues to stare at them. She finds her focus when the English teacher walks into the classroom. In that dire moment of anger, aggravation and annoyance, an idea pops into her mind and she smirks.
It is over for you, Angel.
Tess whispers.
