Sawyer holds his friend for support, in this past month after the news of Ashley came in, he had to stay with and through all of that they were able to let go of their differences and look at the bigger picture. Sawyer is supposed to walk into the office too bur after seeing Peter’s current state of mind.
He certainly cannot leave his friend to be on his own in this dire situation. Sawyer gets into the car after making sure Peter is in and he begins to drive home. After each interval of the minutes that go by, Sawyer stares back to his friend.
He wants to talk but he doesn’t want to disturb. Sawyer has never seen Peter in this state before; he cannot help but realize that Peter really had feelings for Ashley.
