Xavier POV I'm aware of her body being pressed against me all night. I can feel the warmth of her skin, the softness of her curves, the silken strands of her hair, and it's all I can do to keep the other part of me under control, the dangerous part of me that wants to roll her over and ravish her right then and there. I sleep, but only partially, my dreams filled with images of her, my wolf filling me with ideas of what he would like to do with her as she slumbers next to me. I woke first and reluctantly peeled out from beneath her, careful not to wake her, heading into the bathroom to take a cold shower. It still doesn't appease me though. I groan. My c**k is as hard as a rock beneath the water. My hand reaches out and grabs my member around its shaft, my mind filled with a picture of Alyssa's body, my body stiffening. My hand moves up and down, my breathing becoming shallow and labored. Picturing her naked body, plastered beneath me is enough to tip me over the edge and I c*m, hard, spilling my seed into the shower and groaning out loud, wishing that it was inside of her instead. I wash myself and get rid of the evidence, wrapping a towel around me and padding back into the bedroom, only to be greeted by a rosy-cheeked Alyssa who has just woken up. "Good morning Xavier", she avoided my eyes, not knowing where to look. I maintain my composure, beginning to rifle in the closet, grabbing my suit and other necessary items. "The shower is free if you would like to use it. I can give you some more sweatpants" I offer. She sighs. "I really need my clothes." The thought of her wearing any of those offending items, ones that I'm certain that Theodore has helped to purchase, causes my chest to tighten in anger. I don't want her in them. I feel possessive and even churlish. I speak my mind. "We can get you new clothes today" my voice is dismissive. She glances at me "But wouldn't it just make more sense to get my clothes from the hotel and..." she trails off. "No. As my wife, you will be expected to dress a certain way", I improvised, watching as she pursued her lips, "it would be better to just get a brand-new wardrobe". I smiled convincingly at her "And I have every intention of providing for you, remember" I drawl, as she opened her mouth to object. I drop the towel before she can talk, causing her cheeks to flush even brighter red than they already are, her eyes widening as she involuntarily glances down my body, while I smirk. I wondered if she was enjoying the view as she seemed unable to look away, looking like a deer caught in headlights. "Um" her voice is strangled "I'm going to go and take a shower" Her body turns, and she almost runs into the bathroom as I chuckle and begin to get changed into my suit. I place a fresh set of sweatpants and a shirt on the bed for her and go downstairs. The cook is patiently waiting for instructions. "Just toast with some bacon and eggs this morning" I instructed, as I was handed coffee. "I'm not sure what my wife would like to drink" I frowned, not sure if Alyssa was an avid coffee drinker like me or more inclined to drink something like orange juice. I sat down at the dining table. Minutes later, a harried-looking Alyssa joins me, a cup of coffee in hand. I take a mental note that she likes coffee. She sips, giving a little moan that has my c**k twitching. "What's on the agenda today?" her voice is quiet, a contemplative expression on her face. I put my coffee down on the table, just as a plate of food was placed in front of me and Alyssa by the cook. She picks up a fork and stabs it into her egg, raising a brow at me. I sighed "Well, the news of your sudden marriage to me is bound to hit the news and the media today." I deliberately leave out the part where I have alerted the media to my marriage and Alyssa's sudden departure from Theodore. They would have been given the story anyway, but this way it was under my terms. Alyssa bites her lip, looking nervous. "I'm going to look like a monster or a slut" she says, chewing away and looking panicked "they're going to twist it around to make it look as though I'm the villain. Leaving Theodore and then marrying his stepbrother the day before the wedding? It's going to..." she looked down at the plate, worry on her face. "You don't have to worry about the press maligning you" my tone was cold. "They have already received the official story they are to go with and anybody that attempts to print anything else will be swiftly taken care of." Her eyes slowly rose to look at me. "What story?" "You and I have always secretly been in love, but out of respect for my brother, I have kept away. With the wedding only a day away, I realized that I couldn't live without you and persuaded you to elope with me, unable to deny my feelings for you any longer." "But Theodore will tell them..." she protested. "If he wants to save face, he will agree to the story and wish us the best of luck," I said with a growl and a shrug of my shoulders. "As it is, he is most likely still trying desperately to come up with some solution to his problem when it comes to the wedding ceremony and no bride." "Will his company suffer if he doesn't marry someone?" Alyssa voiced her concern. "It might affect his stock prices a little bit, maybe even his reputation. Some business partners might pull out, but it will prove to be a good lesson for him". My tone is nonchalant. I don't care what happens to Theodore Trace. Call me cold-blooded, or callous, but the man would bounce back like the viper he was. He always did. I glanced at Alyssa. "Don't tell me you are feeling sorry for him?" She sighed. "I can't help it. Even though he's treated me poorly, there were times when he was really sweet to me" she said, gazing off into the distance. I flattened my lips. "Perhaps you should remember what lengths he went to ensure you married him?" I raised a brow and challenged her. She flushes and takes a small bite of toast. "I'm not saying what he did was right," she told me, "just that I feel bad." "Well, don't," I advised her, "your family alone, is probably still determined to get you to do what they want." A knock on the door causes us both to look towards it. I am expecting this. I give a grim smile, even as Alyssa gets to her feet. I shook my head at her. "Keep back. My housekeeper will get it." She hesitates. I took hold of her arm and led her to the living area. We stood and waited. My housekeeper opens the door and I watch as her father comes through, practically shoving his way past, while I stand protectively next to her, his wife Karen coming in behind him, along with Theodore and Dahlia. Perfect. The confrontation I had been expecting. John, the father, is holding a newspaper in his hand and is fuming. He slams it down on the coffee table in front of us, breathing heavily. Alyssa cringed. I am not easily cowed by the man. If he thinks that's enough to intimidate me, then he's in for a surprise. Alyssa looks on the verge of fainting, however, and I take her hand in mine, squeezing it as a way to reassure her. This only seems to anger everybody as they watch on. "Alyssa", her father barks, drawing our attention and pointing at the newspaper "this, this drivel, is it true?" he shouts "are you really in love with Xavier Trace? Or is it just a bunch of lies?" "It's all lies", Theodore accuses "he blackmailed her into marrying him, I have no doubt. Alyssa", he turns to my wife, who looks at him in disgust. "Sweetheart. Come back to me. Just annul the marriage" he pleads. I rolled my eyes. Karen looks nervously around her, biting her lip. Dahlia is pensive, a strange gleam in her eyes. I wait, wondering if my wife is going to speak up or if I am going to have to take charge. To my surprise, when Alyssa speaks, her voice is even and devoid of emotion. "Yes, it's true, father. Xavier and I have been in love for a long time," she tells him, "Xavier didn't have to do anything to get me to marry him except ask me to." "Lies" Theodore shouts. "Alyssa", her father looks her in the eyes. "We need you to marry Theodore, for the sake of the..." "Company?" Alyssa's tone was icy. "It's too late father. I married Xavier, and I'm not divorcing him." She wraps her arm around mine, standing closer, while I tighten my grip on her. I feel a sense of satisfaction. I c****d an eyebrow at Theodore, who was clenching his hands into fists. "Alyssa, for the sake of the family" her father tried once more, "you have always done your duty, why would you..." his voice trailed off, and he glared at me. "I'm ruined if you don't marry me" Theodore hisses, "I've given you the night to come to your senses, but now you have to leave, this, this bastard," he shouted. "Watch your tongue," I told him, narrowing my eyes. "It's the only warning I'm going to give you. As for you being ruined, there's a perfectly logical solution to that" I said dismissively. He cannot have Alyssa. I made it clear, raising my chin and staring down at him. Alyssa's father blinks. "What solution would that be?" his voice is tinged with disbelief. "Marry Dahlia" Alyssa was quick, glaring at her stepsister who has remained silent during this whole exchange. "She was good enough for you to sleep with Theodore, she should be good enough for you to marry" she sneered. Theodore growled, "She's not you Alyssa." "You can't have me" Alyssa shouted, losing her temper, "so you either take Dahlia as your lawful wedded wife or you have no-one. You brought this on yourself, Theodore. As for you two", she turned on her stepmother and father. "You should both be ashamed at yourselves for trying to force me into a marriage I don't want. Now leave" she snaps, "I have no desire to be in your presence a minute longer." "Alyssa", her father opened his mouth, but she shook her head and turned away from him, pressing her head against my chest as I wrapped both arms around her protectively. "Leave" her voice is hushed. I nod subtly to security who is hovering nearby. Pack warriors who knew better than to give away what they were. They seize the troublesome stepmother and father, dragging them to the doorway, while Theodore glares at me and Dahlia silently follows behind, her face ashen. "This isn't the last of us." Theodore gave me another glare. "You think you've won, but this is just the first round" he declared, his gaze lingering on Alyssa "I won't let you have what's mine", he threatened. He yanks his arm away from security and storms out the door, slamming it behind him. Alyssa let out a gentle sob.
