Six months later
Courtney
The last six months have flown by. Today is D day. Yep Shane is heading back to the marine core. To do six months intensive training before they get shipped off.
I'm going to miss him. Things around here won't be the same without him. He and Tucker have become close and they have spent a lot of time bonding. Ashton hasn't been around here much since Shane's arrival.
Shane had mentioned that he wouldn't be bothering me again and if he did to let him know the next time he visited it wouldn't be a very pleasant reunion. I know I'm surely in for it with Ashton when he realises that Shane is no longer around.
No doubt he will blame everything on me yet again.
Shane and Bryce were like two peas in a pod. He liked him and said I had a good friend so had Tucker. Issac was s**t scared of Shane, why? I have no idea, neither does Shane. Shane had tormented him every time he came around but it was harmless fun. But Issac didn't see it that way and chose to stay away.
As for my friends, they had been introduced to him and were always around so he could tell them stories of his time in the Marines. I just think that he was happy to tell the story to someone other than me.
We all stood outside by his jeep with tears in our eyes, even Tucker.
"Hey no tears guys I’ll be back."
"You better and don't leave it do long next time."
"I won't I promise."
He hugged us one by one. "I'll miss you little one. Don't forget to stay in touch."
"I won't, so you best not either."
"I'll stay in touch. I promise "
"You better or I'll hunt you down."
He laughed. "I'm sure you will. When your big enough. "
I smiled. He strode over to Tucker.and smiled.
Tucker
"No need to be sad shrimp. I'll be back."
"You promise?'
"I promise."
I pulled him into a hug. "I'm going to miss you bro."
"I'll miss you too, shrimp." He said, ruffling my hair.
"Stay in touch."
"I will, you better to."
"I will. I'll be here for Christmas next year."
"Promise."
"I promise."
I pulled out of the hug. I never thought I would behave this way, but I was going to miss the big oaf. He'd not only take the time to listen to me, he'd give me lots of advice.
He had only met Ashton once and served him with a warning. Shane was not one to be messed with being in the Marines. They were worse than the army, well so I've heard anyway.
Ashton hasn't been around in six months. I think he took Shane's warning to stay away from our sister seriously enough not to be within two feet of her. He didn’t even approach her at school because he knew Shane had eyes and ears everywhere.
If Courtney didn't tell him om sure Bryce would. He and Bryce were like two peas from two very different pods. Shane liked Bryce. He thought that Bryce was a good choice in a friend unlike Ashton.
Bryce had the upmost respect for him. And he promised to take care of Courtney and make sure Ashton came nowhere near her.
It had worked so far, but we all knew once Shane gad left for the marine core there would be no stopping Ashton in tormenting Courtney he had no one around to keep clear of.
Shane had got into his jeep waving a final goodbye before heading down out street and out of sight.
Let's just hope it wouldn't be out of sight, out of mind. I hoped not to get really close to Shane during his stay here and we'd talk, laugh and binge on junk food whilst watching movies. I must admit I was wary of him at first, but the more time that we had spent together the more comfortable I had gotten around him.
Shane
I hated goodbyes. I had a long twelve months ahead of me. First there would be training for six months then we would be deployed to god knows where that would be decided when the training was completed and it wasn't easy training, I s**t you not.
If my parents knew the training we had to go through as Marines they would pull me out qnc bring me back home and place me in a boring office job I wouldn't even thank you for.
Tucker, Courtney and I have become a lot closer over the time I've spent here. Tucker is the younger version of me when I was his age.
One day he will realise he can do better and be better, be someone . But he will only realise that once he is over wlm the s**t he's going through eight now. Hormones are the biggest problem growing up her he huts his teens and he physically starts to changes in himself that's when all of his problems will begin. The same arms Courtney though she's got her head pretty much screwed on, when she becomes a teenager she won't know what's hit her. Then the problems begin, and will be the beginning of a long road of heartache and betrayal.
Let's just hope she can handle it unlike me, but that's a completely different story.
