New Year’s Eve pt 1

Courtney It was almost nine pm and the hoys was rammed so much I just had to get out of there. Most of the street had turned up for the party of the century. I hoped she prayed to God they were all going home after the clock struck twelve. I made my way outside with a glass of lemonade. I breathed in the cool December air one minute after midnight. It would officially be a New Year, a new beginning so we all hoped for but knew it would get far from it. Ashton would still be tormenting me day in day out. And our hate for each other would continue. On the other hand all good comes to those who wait. I had good friends and we were all inseparable. I had tried to reason with Isaac that he had to name time for his other friends like I also did. We'd spent so much tinc together we were forgetting our other friends so we'd agreed to split our time equally between all of us. Simone had invited us all over after New Year's to a game of snooker after Ace had agreed to let us use it as he was out with his friends. I looked around the garden where my dad had the bbq going and the fireworks were to be let off at midnight to see the New year in. My parents went all out for New Year so there would be alot if drinking and celebrating over the next two days. I looked over and smiled seeing my friends and smiled. If none of the neighbours weren't around heed I'm sure there would be complaints about how loud the music was. It will be like this for the next two days. My cousin was a DJ and my dad always twisted his arm to DJ for us every New Year's celebration. He winked at me whilst spinning the discs I grinned at him and made my way over to my friends. They all looked over and smiled. Once I got over to them we all hugged. "Great party court I We were just saying we never expected your pass to go out and hire a DJ." "That's my cousin Jamie. He's a full time DJ and my dad twists his arm every year." They smiled but suddenly fell. "What's wrong guys?" "Don't look now but you're about to meet the world's second biggest jerk." "Who?" "s**t he's coming over." "Wh.." I said, turning around to look at a pair of emerald green eyes. Could this day get any worse? Lawrence We'd been at the party for around an hour and I still hadn't seen hide nor hair of thud Courtney I barely remembered her from Ace's all I remember from that day was how rude Ashton was to the girl who was in the snooker room with him. Me and the guys went outside. I don't think of myself as a bad boy unlike Ace and Brandon who both have a hard time keeping it in. I like girls, don't get me wrong, but I don't need the emotional baggage that comes with them. Ace and Brandon have talked non stop about this girl now I'm curious why they rsln about her like she'd an Angel when all as does us talk like she's satan reincarnated. We were all standing outside drinking and smoking. When I looked over into the corner of the large garden they have nice digs I'll give them that. Then I spotted Simone. She had come with her olds like all of her friends. Ace had told his olds we were all going together they agreed as long as we all turned up and didn't start trouble. Ha! What do they take us for? I'm not like my younger brother and definitely not like my older one. I may be a bad boy by nature, but I know how to behave around others. Ace and Brandon I'm not too sure about. I stand and start as I see the blond laugh with them. I smile wondering who she is. "That's Courtney dude, the blond. Just go over and say hi, she doesn't bite." Brandon says hushly with a big ass grin on his face. "I don't know." I said, unsure, I've waited until now to get my chance to speak to her and find out why Ashton hates her so much. What if she hates me for just being related to him? So many questions. "I'll introduce you if you like?" "Nagh I'll do it " "Sure." "What I'd she doesn't want to talk to me cause I'm Ash's brother. " "Go over about and I'm sure she will. She's not a complete b***h, go Lawrence or I'll drag you over there kicking and screaming." He said, smirking. "Fine, fine." I took slow strides over to her I was so nervous and I had no idea why she'd only got to be ten, or eleven. I heard her friends talking to hef at I got closer. "Don't look now but you're about to meet the world's second biggest jerk." "Who?" "s**t he's coming over." "Wh.." She said, turning around. She looked at me and I almost forgot how to breath looking at her small petite figure and her blond wavy hair and her blue eyes. Damn how could she not be liked by anyone, especially my brother? Her mouth gaped trying to find the words that weren't coming out of her pretty little mouth. "Hey I'm Lawrence I am one of Ace's friends." I know you were at the house with Ashton." Shit. "I know I'm his brother." "Great a replica." Damn I knew things weren't going to go well after I mentioned who I was. I was right. "So, why are you here Lawrence? Are you here just to take the proverbial again?" She questioned. "He was there when?" Simone chirped in. "Yes he was." "And I apologise for my brother. He can be an ass sometimes." "I guess it runs in the family then?" "Hugh?" "I don't remember you telling him to stop being an ass you just stood there amused by it all." "Okay, fine. I'm sorry " "Say it as you mean it." "What?" "She said say it as you mean it." "I heard." I looked at her. "I'm sorry Courtney, I should've stopped him running his mouth." "Yeah you should. Is that all?" "I apologised to you the least you can do is say you accept the apology and let me start again." She grinned. "Sure apology accepted." I smiled. "Hi I'm Lawrence Barraman I see your new around her so welcome to the neighbourhood. " "Thanks. Nice to meet you. I'm Courtney Mendez." I took her hand in mine and shook it. "Maybe we could get a coffee or milkshake sometime." "Are you hitting on me?" "I never hit on girls you're too young for me Miss Mendez I was just being a good neighbour." "Then I accept." I smiled, leaning forward, talking into her ear. "Maybe if you were five or six years older I'd think about it." I said and winked at her letting go of her hand. "I'll see you again Courtney Mendez, my friends are waiting." She nodded and I walked away smiling.
