Courtney
I couldn’t believe it was Christmas Day already. I was so excited and the girls were meeting up tomorrow to go sale shopping ready for the New Year’s Eve party.
I ran down stairs unaware everyone else was already awake. They all looked up, chuckling. “Slow down princess.”
“Dad!”
He smiled as I ran over to him, throwing my arms around him and hugging him. He placed his arms around me squeezing me into a hug. “I missed you too princess.”
“I didn’t think you would be back home till tonight.”
“I wanted to surprise you princess.”
“You sure did that. I love you dad.”
I hugged him tighter. I hadn’t seen dad in two weeks since the play, he worked away a lot.
Tucker
I smiled at my sister. She was dad's little girl. She always missed him so much when he went to work away. They were really close to each other. I was glad he’d come home early and had surprised us all. Mom's face when she opened the door this morning was priceless though he had a key he wanted to surprise us all and opening the door would eliminate the art of surprise.
Mom nearly had a heart attack before they hugged and kissed one another. It was a love you could only wish for; they'd been together almost twenty years; they were highschool sweethearts. We all hugged each other. I was surprised there was no sign of Courtney as she was usually first up on Christmas morning.
He had scared the shot out of Bryce, typical dad. “And who’s this young man I don’t believe we’ve met.”
“Bryce sir.”
He shook his hand almost to the point it almost dropped off. “And are you taking care of my princess?”
“We’re just f-f-freinds sir.”
I had to chuckle. I'd never seen Bryce stutter one word since I met him. He was so confident in himself that’s why the girls liked him.
“Maverick Lea the poor boy alone. You met him at Courtney’s play, I told you Bryce was saying over christmas break he and Tucker are friends they are at the same high school they’ve been. Friends since we iced here do you ever listen o a word I ever say?”
“Obviously not.” He said winking at me,”
I had to laugh, he was alw getting into trouble or not listening to mom like ever.
“I’m keeping an eye on you.I know what it was like to be your he once.”
“Leave him, he's not fifteen yet.”
“Still.”
He squeezed Bryce’s hand. “You may be just Courntey’s friend now, but when it comes to my princess I’ll be the judge of what is boyfriend material and what’s not.”
“Y-e-e-s -s-sir”
He smiled at Bryce letting go of his hand.
“So where’s my princess?”
“Sleeping.”
“Good. I'd like to surprise her.”
“Dad!”
He smiled and she ran over to him, throwing my arms around him and hugging him. He placed his arms around me squeezing me into a hug. “I missed you too princess.”
“I didn’t think you would be back home till tonight.”
“I wanted to surprise you princess.”
“You sure did that. I love you dad.”
“How long are you here for dad?”
“Until you go back to school princess.”
He sure surprised her, her face was a picture and still is as we all sat down to open our presents.
Bryce
God there dad is as scary as. Hell. I wouldn’t like to get on the wrong side of him ugh ugh. I pity Ashton if he can’t keep his bitchy comments to himself. Any one would think he’s a gilt how much he slags Courtney off. He really needs to keep his opinions to himself or he’s going to live to regret it.
I meant what I said: me and Courtney are just friends.an Angel like her deserves more than I could ever give her. She needs someone like Issac and I hate using his name. It's the truth. I think once they hit their teens they’ll finally realise that they belong together. I like Courtney a lot but I know I’ll never be that guy she wants even in the future I know I will never be able to commit to jut one girl. I’ve gotten flocking around me already and I’m only twelve what will happen in five or six years time. I guess I won’t want a serious relationship with a girl even Courtney. No matter how much I like her. I'll have to put those feelings away cause I don’t want to hurt her. She's an Angel and deserves to be treated like one.
“Come on Bryce lunch is ready.”
I smile, pulling myself up and going into the dining room, taking my seat beside Tucker. He won’t let me sit next to Courtney for? What happened the other day? He seems to be over it so why can’t he?
The lunch was full of chapter and laughter. I felt more at home here than I did with my own family even if Tucker and Courtney;s father scares the living s**t out of me.”
