Prologue

I watched him, my eyes gliding down to his chest. He was wearing a V neck sweater with a gold chain dangling from his neck and I never thought he was the same Vince I used to know back in school. The guy I called all sorts of names. Fat Vince. Nerdy Vince. Trashy Vince. I swallowed hard as he pulled the cigarette from his lips. He had barely had a smoke, and he moved his hand away, a small smile lifting his lip. His dimples sank in, and he shook his head, passing his fingers through his golden brown locks. "So what?" His voice was raspy, and his steely dark blue eyes met mine. "So what if you know?" I swallowed, summoning my courage. I need to in front of him, at least. Tyler was gone and rejected mates were up for auction. I sure as hell did not want to watch some old guy buy me even if that meant a life with Vincent. "I will tell. I will tell everyone your secret and..." "What will you tell them?" He said, laughing. I swallowed hard, meeting his steely gaze. "That their celebrated alpha is a little p********e who goes to bars to f**k random...." "Goddamnit, Jordan." Before I knew it, he was in front of me, his hand pushing me back to the nearest wall. I felt my back hit the wall, my eyes closing only briefly. It gave him time to settle, his hands entrapping me between him and the wall behind. "Do I look like the fat guy you made Wolf High hell for? Do I look like the guy who would succumb to your little, dirty tricks and immediately cower? Do I look like someone you can have your way with?" "I have your secret. The league of alphas would be deathly pleased to find out." He gritted his teeth, then gave a small laugh again, his eyes scrutinizing me. "You know what you need to accept, Jordan? That right now, as we both stand, I own you. Every single piece of you. If I need you on your knees, you will go down on your knees. If I need you in bed, you will be in bed." I swallowed. "Don't reject me, Vince. I beg of you." I felt my pride crumble as he laughed again, his fingers slowly moving my hair away. "And if..." He continued, humor, darkness and plain evil in his voice. "I need you auctioned as a rejected wolf, then so be it."
