I Want Her

1137 Words
I grasp hard at my dress as I slowly stand up from the dirt. I swallowed, my eyes taking in the path marks left by Tyler's car, and I swallowed, then slowly started to walk. Abandoning my car, I walked slowly away, with no exact destination. It was like I wanted to get away from the place where the only man I ever loved had broken my heart. Crazy how I had thought I would become, to him, like the woman my father never could have. Turns out I was being massively delusional, and he just showed me that. The path turned, and I took a turn too, heedlessly, like I was expecting it to lead me to somewhere else. Somewhere where this pain would be numbed. Somewhere that would make me feel less. The sun had already set on me, and it had turned pretty dark as I continued to walk. I gave a small sigh, then stopped, slowly going on my knees. Something better kill me before this pain does. Something better numb me before this pain does. Suddenly, a bright light erupted, breaking the falling darkness and almost numbing my eyes. I brought my hand to my face to shield my eyes, giving them time to adjust. I slowly let my hand down, only to come face to face with a large neon sign. "Ecstasy," it read. I swallowed hard. I knew what ecstasy was. It was a classy, one night of passion sort of place, and it was reserved mostly for the rejected wolves, or the mateless. Right now, I felt like both. I swallowed and turned away from it. I had no business there, and I should probably get home. I stopped in my tracks, however, and slowly turned to it. It was one night... One night of passion. What could be so bad? The men there are unknown, and you have to pay extra to get to know them. Otherwise, you don't do much talking. I swallowed. This is the place I had been praying for. Against all sorts of rationality, I walked closer, my eyes wide as I took in the board. "Where pleasure thrives." I swallowed. I needed that right now. Like hell, I did. I slowly walked in, and the guard, probably there to ensure no one was cheating on their mates there, gave a small gasp. I smiled at him. "I look horrible, I know." He smiled. "A man here will make you forget him." I sure hoped so. I walked inside to the front desk. It was a pretty fancy place, and I could see rows and rows of rooms to my left. To the right had the most noise and lights, and I was guessing it was a club. "What do you want? A male escort to the club for just some heated dancing and drinking, or a male escort to the bedrooms?" I swallowed. I wanted to be drunk, too, so I grabbed my wallet. "How much for both?" She shrugged. "Depends on the man you are choosing. Some are more expensive than others." I understood what she meant. Some were probably better looking and better escorts, and others were probably more inexperienced. She brought out something that looked like a brochure, except it was a huge collection of men pictures. It was labelled, and I realized they had an option for women, too. I sifted through the pages. Some were breathtakingly handsome, but I kept moving, like I was looking for a particular man. I soon found him. He was wearing a simple mask, so the only thing I could see were his eyes. A piercing dark blue. He looked like he was staring right at me, and I gulped. I let my eyes roam the rest of his body. He seemed to put zero effort into the picture. unlike the rest. His shoulders were broad, his chest wide, and I could imagine my hands running along his skin. Hell, there was no more of him. I looked up, and she was already smiling. Seems he was pretty sought after. "That is...well, the most sought-after man here. Every woman seems to just love the mystery." I nodded. That was appealing, too. "So... how much for him?" She shrugged. "He works free. But he is choosy and can decide not to choose you. Do give your complete name, I assure you it is anonymous, and wait in this room right here. He will take a peek in fifteen minutes, and if he is fine with you, you will get to meet him." I immediately nodded, my awe of this man heightening, and I started to walk towards the room. "Oh, also... you can change your dress and have someone make your face up. For an extra fee, of course." I smiled, nodding. "I would love that." "Alright. Take a bath inside while you are at it, and he will come around. I will arrange for your dress and make-up." "Thank you," I said, smiling, then went inside the room. It was pretty large, and there was no one inside. I wondered if they were low on customers or if I had just come pretty early. Either way, it worked for me, and I immediately grabbed a towel and went into the shower. I swallowed back the tears that filled my eyes as the memories pelted down on me like the water, and I shook my head. He didn't deserve it. If he left me for Mariana...if he felt no remorse... he didn't deserve it. I stepped out of the shower, my hair slightly wet from pressing on it with a small towel I had discarded onto the chairs. I passed my fingers through my hair and gave a small sigh. Suddenly, I heard the door creak open. I turned to it, my hand frozen in my hair, the towel wrapped around me. Suddenly, the door opened, and he stood outside, his eyes thin. He was wearing the same face mask and a V neck shirt that let the necklace he was wearing show. V. Did his name start with a V? I wasn't sure. For an icy moment, I just stayed there. I had expected him to watch me, to look down and see, but he never did. I might have done enough of that for two. He was taller than I had imagined and broader. His hair was a golden brown shade, and he had it falling across one eye, adding to his mystery. Damn. Without a word, he turned away and walked out. I ran to the door to listen in, and it turned out to be the right decision. I heard his voice, deep and slightly dark, with a little musical undertone I knew I would dance to. "I want her."
