I stood in front of the car, realizing I had forgotten to grab the keys. I let out a sigh. Legacy Healthcare was at least fifteen minutes away. I turned to the door. If I go in there, I don't think I would find the courage to be able to come out again.
Slowly, I walked away from the car, my eyes squinting against the sun. The walk proved to be better, and I slowly felt a little lighter, my chest feeling less tight.
As long as I could ignore the stares.
I had expected it, though. Everyone thought I had intentionally killed a baby. I probably deserved it.
I swallowed hard, my fists clenching as I continued on my way. The pack house was right around, and in front of it was the massive banner.
