Forgiving Maria

1894 Words

JUNE Waiting had to be the hardest thing a person could do. Here I was locked up in my room with no news about the war Alpha Axel had graciously taken to Weston – it didn’t matter what he had done to me, deep down I hoped he would win. Just not at the expense of my parents - and I was slowly losing my mind. “June, are you in here?” Maria’s voice rang through from the other side of the door and I gripped my sheets with both hands and the sound of her voice. Maybe if I don’t answer, she will leave. I thought, immediately putting my lips in a thin line as though that would silence the sound I was about to make. I silently prayed that she would take my silence and leave, but that persistent woman pushed my bedroom door open, first making me realize that Alpha Axel lied about locking me up.
