The unwanted in-laws

LENNOX The nerve of her to even ask me why I hated her, like she didn’t know the thing she had done to me years ago. Sure, she didn’t know I was Lennox considering I was now using the alias Axel, but wasn’t she supposed to be remorseful over her past? I enjoyed the pain in her eyes, to say the least. Hearing her whimper was shockingly music to my ears. It was nothing compared to what my mother and I had to suffer years ago, but this would have to do for now. For right now. Because I was sure going to give her more of it. And above all, she was going to be the weapon I would use to annihilate Weston for good. Just a little more, June. Endure it a little more. The darkness in me breathed as a thought. “What is it, June? Is the pain too much for you?” I mocked, arching my brows and pouting my lips at her. Water flowed from her eyes down to her cheeks. It was a f*****g beautiful sight. She still had her wedding makeup on, smudged, but it could still be seen. Not to mention that pathetic wedding dress she still had on. If I didn’t know any better, I would think that she deliberately chose this dress. It didn’t look like any effort was made at picking it out, but then again, I f*****g had to wed her in it. I shouldn’t have. Married her, that is. My sole mission was to ruin the wedding and have her ass dragged and locked up in one of the cells in my dungeon until I was ready to face her and deal with her. And that should have been what had happened if I hadn’t let my wolf get in my head and for him to have had control over me by as much as he did. Another sob and whimper and I snapped out of my angered daze and glued my eyes back on the woman in front of me. “Please…” she begged, more tears falling from her eyes which were now puffy. I heard her, but I didn’t stop trying to pull her arms apart. They could come right off for all I cared. In my mind, I was reminding myself of the distance and wedge that was between us. And as wide as her hands went, it showed me how thick of a wedge it was. “I’ll tell you what, June.” I started, a sinister smile forming on my lips. “If you can endure the pain, I will tell you why I loathe you as much as I do. Do you think you can handle the pain for a minute?” I drew, leaning forward to bring my face close to hers. Come on, say yes. I knew she wanted to. The June I knew would have loved a challenge. I could see her war in her eyes and the pain. Only, she wasn’t that June. And maybe, just maybe, I never knew who she even really was. I waited a few seconds for her answer, but it never came. I smiled, realizing she had accepted my challenge and, without another word to her, my grip tightened and the force I was using to pull her arms apart increased by a great deal. I wanted to watch her face, to take in the pain and torture in her eyes and expression, but at the same I wanted to look at the damage on her wrist. And, as expected, she was bleeding. “I can’t…” she finally said a few seconds away from the minute rounding up. Ah, so close. I thought, releasing my hold on her. “Pathetic…get out of my sight.” I spat in anger, the torture had sadly come to an end. Not to mention the stupid pain in my chest from my wolf daring to feel bad for her. Not a word from him came, but here and there, I could feel his restlessness, wanting her pain to end. Does he forget that life was hell because she chose that bastard? It took a few seconds before she gathered herself to leave, but not before someone showed up at the door. “Holy f*****g s**t, Axel. What the hell man?” Jaxon exclaimed, rushing towards June like she was some helpless woman. What he should be worrying about is the f*****g stain on my damn carpet, not that loser. I cursed in my mind. He grabbed hold of her, scooped her in his arms like some f*****g hero before walking off. I stood there, not only stunned by his actions – he was supposed to hate her as much as I did and maybe even f*****g more, because every day since we met I told him about my pain – but also f*****g pissed at him. He's going to answer to me. I should have called for him the second he left with her, but there was something, my wolf at the back of my mind, blocking my ability to. So I waited until a few minutes passed to try again. “When you’re done playing doctor, I need you back in my office.” I barked at him from the back of my mind. “You didn’t have to do this to her, man. Her wrists are so bruised it will leave a nasty scar.” He had no business sounding concerned, but I knew that he was. There had been times when he would ask me if taking revenge on her was even necessary – I had to shut him down every time. So it was no surprise that he was going to sound this way. But I smiled despite the anger I was feeling. “Good, that should remind her who she’s f*****g dealing with.” I fired back at him, starting to pace around in my office. For a moment, I just went back and forth not necessarily thinking about anything until he returned. “About f*****g time…” I walked over to my chair and sat on it, sighing out loud because today had been a f*****g long one. Jaxon didn’t say a word to me for some time. He had shut the door and was standing in front of my table staring at me with a pointed look and disappointment in his eyes. “What?...” I snapped at him. His brows furrowed, then he shook his head. “You’re pouring out your anger on the wrong person, man. Now, I don’t like her anymore than you do, but come on, did you have to hurt her like that?” he asked, his voice strained like he was trying really hard to keep his manners. “She f*****g got what she deserved. Are you going to waste both our time talking about her or are you going to tell me what it is you’re holding there?” I pointed at the file in his hand. He looked down on his hands, gritted his teeth before he nodded. “Right, this came for you a few minutes ago. I stopped by to grab it before coming here.” He replied, placing the file in front of me on the table. I raised my brow and lifted my head to look at him after a glance at the file. Please tell me it's not what I think it is. I thought to myself. Jaxon had the look that told me he had no idea what it was, and I wasn’t looking forward to finding out either. I was about to reach for the file when the telephone on my desk started to ring. Jaxon reached for it knowing I wouldn’t want to and because I wanted to see what was on the file now instead. Curiosity at work. “Alpha Axel’s office, how can I help…” he started to speak but stopped mid-sentence. His eyes met mine, he raised his brows before his lips curled into a scowl. “He’s right here...” He spoke into the phone before passing it to me. “Your new father-in-law is on the line for you, Alpha.” He hissed into my mind shoving the phone in my hand. June’s father on the phone? What the f**k does he want? I held the phone in my hand, staring at it for a few seconds. Just hang up man. I told myself and I was tempted to. But at the same time, I wanted to know what the old bastard wanted from me. Did June mind link him or something? I wondered. It made sense that she would, given what happened a few minutes ago, and I knew just how doted she was by her parents. I took a deep breath, calming myself before I spoke. “What do you want?” There was no need for nicety at all when it came to these people and I, for one, was not going to pretend for their sake. “Not a nice way to start up a conversation with your father-in-law now, is it, Alpha Axel?” He’s not being serious, is he? My face contorted with confusion at his audacity. This was a man who cowered and hid when I crashed his daughter’s wedding, and now he was speaking to me like I was that boy from years ago? “You haven’t told me why you’re calling my office. You’ve got thirty seconds or I’m hanging up.” I told him, already starting a count-down in my head. June will pay for this. How dare she give her father my office number without my permission? The hand I had rested on the table curled up into a fist. I heard shuffling in the background, making me imagine he was adjusting himself in his chair or wherever the f**k he was. “Well, given how you waltzed into my daughter’s wedding and took off with her, I say its only right that you invite us over to your pack for us to see where our daughter is going to be staying for the rest of her life.” The audacity of this old fool is hilarious. I chuckled darkly, feeling a laugh building in my chest at his words. Jaxon didn’t need the phone to be on loud speaker to hear our conversation, but he too had a shocked expression on his face. I was about to hang up on my father-in-law when an idea struck into my mind. If June means so much to them, maybe they need to see just how she’s going to suffer for their past choices. “Very well. I will have my Beta text you the address and the date for your arrival.” I spoke, dropping the phone with a wicked smile plastered on my face. And so it begins. This might just be the start of their pain.
